Doesnt even have the right knobs on it and the truss rod cover is shaped wrong.

Yay-They took the buzzsaw down right before selling it... BUt the bullseye still made it to the sale.

Hi guys. Joined up just to say thanks for all the info. Thought some of the deals seemed to good to be true and was close to buying an Epi LP Custom off this guy but held off
until I'd done some research. eBay My World - factoryguitars

Looks like there are a few more operating on the Australian ebay now as well:

eBay My World - jack_strawau

The second one is of particular concern. He's obviously new (0 sales so far) and offering a whole bunch of different LPs which all seem fake but he's using similar links and text to factoryguitars. Any reference to direct shipping from 'wholesaler' has me suspect.

Anyhoo, thanks for the great forum. Will be sure to check back once I get my REAL Epi this week!

Where did you buy it, and can I get a pic of the serial #, you can block out a couple digits if you don't want to post the whole things, I just want to see how the EE compares with the numbers.

Thanks a lot of posting about that last guy, I am reporting all his guitars as we speak.

EDIT: Apparently it looks like three of his guitars are legit, and I sent the a message telling him to take down his fakes.

Ok, got an email from rocking-store (one of the fakes we reported as well as 4 of his others).

I sent an email to Gibson requesting info on a website Rocking-store referred me to, and hopefully they can shed some light on it. BUt the website he mentions looks ironically JUST LIKE www.chinaepiphone.com, they even have the same online customer service window pop-up on the site. So we will see.

Heres the letter i sent Gibson:
To whom it may concern,
I am a active member of Les Paul Forum | Gibson Epiphone - MyLesPaul.com and have recently been very active in assisting with stopping the transfer of counterfeit Epiphone and Gibson Les Paul guitars on Ebay worldwide (with help from other members of the site of course, but I am heading it up the best I can). My question is this- I reported a member of Ebay for selling fake Epiphones on Ebay and he forwarded me to their website via email claiming that the guitars are in fact, legit. Yet I see plenty of faults with them (I.E. tone/volume knobs installed forward of the bridge and not symmetrical, "EE" in serial number larger than the numbers when everyone elses (including mine) are the same size), brass trussrod covers shaped just like the regular Epiphone Les Pauls, rather than the crownish shape, diamond backplates wrong (installed at wierd angles) and even the knobs the wrong type mostly on the bullseye Zakk Wilde Epis (Silver topped just like the buzzsaw rather than all black). Could you let me know if this is a legit site or not? It looks just like the other site weve been looking pretty hard at (www.chinaepiphone.com). If it is, we wont bug this guy anymore, but it still doesnt answer why all the differences and why theyre different.

I think you can all see where this is going, and pretty much how it will end up- its a fake site claiming to be Epiphone. At least thats what I am putting together here, but we will see.

Well, I bought it second hand. From ebay (australia) as well, the problem is I think the person who bought the guitar didn't know if its fake or original. I am worried as the guitar does not have the epiphone limited edition seal behind the head stock. Does it mean it's a fake? Colour also is more red then orangey..

If you can post a pic of the serial number, and a niceshot of the knobs that would be perfect, I should be able to tell from that. Thanks!

iTS FAKE. the dang serial number isnt even centered or level, and its one of those with the bridge too far down the body. Might be a private guy who doesnt know its a fake. Seems like a private sale. Gonna email him and let him know.

Just one thing tho theres a epiphone custom on ebay that serial numbers can be checked out at The Guitar Dater Project - Determine the date of your guitar by its serial number is this a valid site? and just because they match could this still be a fake?

Yes, even if the numbers checked out, it can still be a fake. The serial numbers could have been stolen from other Epiphones and printed on the fake.

HIs pics are too fuzzy to make a call, I wouldnt buy from him just based on that.
