Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
I was asking about the plastics. Also do you know what kind of pots I would need to buy to upgrade my epi (Long, or short shaft, etc.)?

Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
Plastic parts made for a Gibson LP are not a direct fit for Epiphone LP's. You can make a pickguard work with some sanding, never tried the cover plates.
As for pots, Epi's use short shafts, although I have installed long shafts into mine, you can use a washer and nut on the control cavity side of the pot to set the distance it will protrude through the hole.

Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
Rule of thumb, if it's made to fit Gibsons it will not fit Epis.
Historic parts don't even fit on the regular line of USA Gibson Les Pauls without work. Gibson plastics will not fit without some modifications (plugging old screw holes and drilling new ones, Truss Rod covers do not fit, back covers do not fit. hardware does not fit without modification to either the parts or plug and fill the holes in the top. The pots in Epis are metric, 6mm diameter short shaft, Gibson pots can be long or short depending upon era, and are 3/8 inch diameter, conversion to imperial parts requires enlarging the holes, same with the toggle switch have to make the hole bigger to fit a real Switchcraft switch.

Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
It will if you make it? Get what Im saying. Historic parts dont even fit USA models but I force bent the pickup rings and screwed in the TR cover. You can drill for the TR cover. Put a piece of sandpaper (grain facing up) on the area where the pickup ring will sit and rub the pickup ring back and forth till it takes the shape of the topcarve, then screw it in..you might have to have some screws at an angle or redrill. Tailpiece should be good and I would plug the hole for the bridge and redrill or thread a bolt in, cut the head, drill into the bolt shaft for an ABR-1 and tap for the studs. enlarge the holes slightly with a reamer for better pots and youre ready to go.

Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
It all fits......
The only changes you may need to do involve buying a set of bridge post adapters (reducer from Epi to 4mm shaft) if you put an ABR1 on there, a Gotoh or metric lightweight tailpiece (or replace the bushes for US) and possibly (maybe not) redrilling for the pup ring holes. Pots, short shaft; but check using a pencil pushed through the existing hole, then put your thumb up against the back of the maple when the tip is showing on the front face. Take a measurement and if it's around 5mm, short will do the job. As for the holes, the switch(craft) and (CTS) pots will mean widening them slightly to accomodate the extra diameter (about 2mm overall). Put sandpaper around a pencil shaft (I like pencils..!), place it through the hole and sand it out slowly until you reach the desired size. Tuners should be 10mm, rather than US Gibson, but you can buy adapter bushes...So not a problem. Good luck. Peace |

Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
I've read the historic PG will fit an Epi.

Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
I have put a Gibson USA pickguard and more recently a Gibson Historic pickguard on my '99 Epi standard plus. Both pickguards needed to be modified (sanded) to fit properly around the standard Epi pickup rings.
I also have an Historic TRC. Fits fine. Just use the 1 screw hole at the top. If you tighten it enough the one screw will hold it in place fine. Mine has never moved. So yes, as everyone else has previously stated, you can MAKE anything fit, but it will require a little fiddling. |

Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
I would just leave it alone. No ones gonna know what plastic parts are on your guitar except you. They pretty much look the same anyway and its not worth the aggravation. You'll probably just end up jacking up your perfectly good guitar. I just don't see the point.....
But of course, your guitar do what you like. Just seems silly to me is all... Now pots and caps, yea go for it. talk to member Jonesy. He'll hook you up with the good stuff bud.

The stock pickup rings on my '02 Epi LP St+ are actually the same size (hight) as Gibson historic rings. The only differences are that the screw holes are about 2mm wider (metric) than the Historic/Gibson USA (imperial) width, and that fact that the Epi rings are cheap POC. Also, whatever you do, DON'T overtighten the screws...especially the ones at the top of the neck pickup. And as many people have said, Epi and Gibson parts are NOT interchangeable without few moddifications.

Re: will historic parts fit my epi?
I found that a dremel tapered grinding stone is perfect size for opening holes in epi for pots n switch. Much faster then doing by hand and no chance of busting up the finish like with drill.... they like 2.99$
