When I got my guitar set up I told them to tune it to Eb can I still tune standard?

I took my guitar in to get set up today and they asked what I tuned to. I told them Eb.

I will occasionally switch from Eb to E. If I tune it up to E, and then tune back down to Eb will it mess up the intonation or anything because of the tension or will it just not be perfect in E but still be perfect in Eb???

it shouldn't be a big deal on an LP - if it was a strat or floyd rose, you could have issues....

It will be fine, I switch between the two all the time.

You could probably go from E to C and beyond with no issues other than slightly loose feeling strings.

Yes you can do both Eb and E tunings without worry. Good Lawdy, I sometimes go for open G and D and dropped D all on the same guitar in one night. Ain't had no intonation issues yet when going back to standard.

C will be a little bit more than "slightly" loose. The same gauge strings will be flopping like shoelaces. You'll need 12s or 13s.

I had my SG tuned to C with 10s (think I wanted to play a Carcass song) and it was just, like I said, slightly loose. I wouldn't have played it in anger like that, nor was I suggesting the guy should, I was just making the point that going from E to C is possible, so E to Eb is a piece of cake.

Re: When I got my guitar set up I told them to tune it to Eb can I still tune standar

It depends on how demanding you are on your setup. If you go for whisper-low action at standard, you'll likely have to make an adjustment or two on the action and truss rod to try to eliminate your newfound buzz.

I find it difficult to accept that LPs deal with string tension changes like a champ...they're just guitars with truss rods in temperature/humidity sensitive mahogany necks.

Exactly. Unless those Robots also adjust the truss rod, there's the proof it can be done easy enough.

(If they DO adjust the tross rod, well, that's amazing!)

It'd be funny if it did adjust the truss rod, and one day went all Hal snapping it's own neck. Buddy's playing Air Supply or something.

Dave to HAL the Robot Guitar: "OK, HAL, drop tune to Eb, and when we re-tune to standard, please adjust the truss rod."

HAL: "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that."
