Help!! Is It Fake??

HI, found this one on craigslist, its a b-stock so i dont know if thats why serial number shows up unrecognized??? Any ideas serial number is 311447154 seemed odd to me but its owned by a real person not a cousin of a factory worker(that i know of anyway) I dont know how to attach an image but, the serial number is on a white rectangular STICKER where it usually is painted. Also how do you feel about the b-stocks???

Re: Help!! Is It Fake??

They do that with factory seconds. They're should be a huge "2" stamped into the back of the headstock too

Nothing wrong with factory 2nd guitars as it's usually just a blemish in the finish that is for the most part not even noticeable

To insert images you need an image sharing website like Photobucket, unless you know how to go through the pictures properties and grab it's url. Once you have the url click the tiny little icon witht he mountain on the front and inserted it there.

Then you should be fine. That's how they mart the b-stock/2nd Guitars. Like I said before, It is most likely a small blemish in the finish. you're bound to get them anyway from playing so I don't see anything wrong with getting it. As for it being good. It is an Epiphone and there quality is hit and miss. I will say that all my Epiphones i've bought before playing, one online, and haven't gotten a "dud" yet

My epiphone's quality is better than a Gibson I tried at my local store so I got extremely lucky I think!

Re: Help!! Is It Fake??

What do you base quality on? Not electronics and hardware and wood? Just busting your balls! Glad you love your Epi and got one of the "good" ones.

Anyways - there is nothing wrong with a factory second guitar - usually a cosmetic blemish. almost always an insignificant amount of damage - much smaller than the big ass "2nd" they stamp in the back of the headstock!

Re: Help!! Is It Fake??

It's a real EPI.

"USED" on the back of the headstock does not mean that it's a factory 2nd.

"Used" is a factory 3rd, or "C" stock.

Re: Help!! Is It Fake??

i am pretty sure after looking at these posts that mine is a fake. but i am ok with that. if it was a fake gibson i would be pretty upset. but its a fake, of a fake gibson...right? still sounds good and looks good. but is it a fake? some things look legit, while other are way off. for the 3 hundred i paid some guy on ebay i am ok if its not a real epi. i also want to say that all the parts are stamped epiphone. the bridge, stopbar and pickups. i added photos of the pickup.

Re: Help!! Is It Fake??

I'm not sure it's fake... but I'm not Fake Hunter... even though it shows signs of being a fake.

It's fake - as per the Guitar Dater Project website.. Take it for what it worth, the site just breaks down the s/n: not to see if the guitar is legit.

Guitar Info
Your guitar was made at the
Samick Plant, Korea
April 2006
Production Number: 0473

Samick Guitars

Samick Guitars is one of the world’s largest stringed instrument manufacturers. Samick produces acoustic, acoustic-electric, and electric models. The company began guitar production in Korea in July 1965 and started producing guitars for Epiphone in the mid 80's. They are believed to have been the main producer of Epiphone guitars during that time. During its operation the Korean factory turned out 6,500 to 8,000 instruments a month. However by 2004 no Epiphone guitars where produced by Samick and all guitar production had been moved to their factories in Indonesia and China.

On the other hand it's Korean made, and only the pickguard screw is off. And I can't know if it's the original pickguard, or if it's a replacement. The TRC is chinese-shaped, but I don't know if Koreans were made with that TRC as well; If they weren't that could also be a suggestion for replaced plastic parts. The control cavity cover shape looks genuine - it's not a symmetrical diamond, but the lower left corner is more extruded from the rest of the shape. That's how real Epis are. The diamond inlay and tuners look right. Intriguing guitar. Better post it in the fake epiphone thread and post details on whether or not you know the pickguard is original from new, and whether or not there's another set of screw holes under the TRC. Also removing hardware and looking for embossed Epiphone(R) markings, and checking underneath the pickups for more genuinity details, will help the pros to nail it down.

Re: Help!! Is It Fake??

i have added updated pics. and also added that every part is stamped epiphone...the bridge, stopbar and even both pickups. so what does that mean? if its not a real epi then someone definately used real epi parts. even the tuners are identical to my epi dot deluxe. and i know that my dot is an epi.

I would say it looks real to me. The pickups look legit right down to the sticker on the bottem. That's what they are supposed to say.

Well then it must be the real deal. There is a very dodgey aura about that guitar though.

Just like Shifty said in the fake epi thread. I think it looks to be a fake.

No, not with seconds, just the "Used" ones. They scrape the serial , stamp it used and attach the 3### one. Once its used, it voids the warrantee.
If its a second, it will say "2ND" behind the headstock, but they dont scrape the serial for that.
