vintage? epiphone les paul standard serial # question

Hi everyone, I am new to this but have searched the internet with no luck so here goes....
I am looking at buying a epiphone les Paul standard from a little old lady who said she bought it for her son in the 80's. I have been trying to see if it is really that old and the value but can't find anything. The serial number is dw08030. I know it is made in china. But that's about it so if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it

Re: vintage? epiphone les paul standard serial # question

Hi guys, I don't mean to hijack the thread but since we are talking serial numbers I thought that I would toss in mine and see what it means. From what I have heard it was made in 1994. The rest is a little hazy as I have been given different information from guys that say they know. Anyway, I'd sure appreciate a little help. This is a lefty and the number is 9403209. No letters at all. This is from the neck plate on the back side of the instrument.

(Interesting and surprising how it shows only one post for me. I've posted a number of times in the lefty section of this forum.)

There's no such thing as a "vintage" Epi LP. The first Epi LP was released in 1988 (21 years ago). And, as far as the term "vintage" goes, newer Epis will NEVER be considered "vintage".

There's no lefty section on this forum. I think you're talking about a social group and I don't think that posting in there counts for the "post count".

Your guitar was made in March '94.

Yes, I just found that out. It was the social group and I did not even know that.

Also... Thanks for the info on my guitar. So, March of 94, you say? 94 was all I knew. Now I know just when it was made. Always wondered. I assume it is a Korean made instrument. Thanks again. Truely appreciated.

Even Gibsons newer than 1968 will never be considered vintage.................
