Is it the used market on Les Pauls dropping??

Ok so is it just me or is the used market on Les Pauls dropping lately?

I saw a black standard on craigslist for 800 dollars about a week or two ago, and this 05 for 1350 seems pretty damn cheap??? To bad I didn't have the cash I would grab this one.

Gibson Les Paul Standard 2005

Plus I recently had my 76 custom appraised and it only came back at 1800 dollars and its pretty much mint.

This just all leads me to believe that the market on a used les paul is starting to come down???

What do you guys think?

thats kind of what I thought. Makes me wonder if its a good or bad time to by gear? I wonder how low stuff will get before it finally bottoms out.

The biggest kicker is that the prices on new Fenders and Gibson's sure are getting any cheaper so I don't understand how come used gear is dropping so much lately.

I doubt he will sell that guitar though. The last flame top 25/50 78 LP I say like that on ebay was around 5000 dollars.

Re: Is it the used market on Les Pauls dropping??

I've moved 3 Les Pauls on in the last week or so. A 1980 Goldtop, a 1981 Custom and a 1985 Ferrari red Standard. The only one that did any good was the Ferrari Red and that, I'm sure is down to rarity value. Having said all that I' putting the cash into a '68 Goldtop Standard so effectively what goes around comes around.

Well if you buy a 68 goldtop let us see some pics and know how much it set you back?

What's a really nice 58 LP worth now days? Like $125,000? Or have the dropped some?

Lightbulb Re: Is it the used market on Les Pauls dropping??

The market is perfect right now, I bought a Martin HD-28v for 2k on eBay, this guitar lists for 4099, and retails for 3099. I feel like I got a killer deal since all the other ones are 2800 bucks lol. It was a trade off since I sold my 96 fender strat ultra in mint condition for 800 bucks. when I say mint, I mean mint, I had it for the last 12 years, and played it maybe 2hrs, otherwise it just sat in its case. Right after the market crashed I bought a 01 Les Paul Standard in HCB with a AA flame maple top for 1500, Still cant touch one for less than 1800. So yeah it's a buyers market, got a job, got some extra cash, well nows the time to plan your retirement lol

Even if he knocked a zero off the price of that 25/50 he's still be asking twice what it's worth. What on Earth chance is there of it selling for 100K Pounds?
