Big Top R9

Beautiful - with no credit crunch and some spare pennies I'd jump on this one...

GIBSON 59 LES PAUL HISTORIC MURPHY ULTRA AGED YAMANO - eBay (item 220340949926 end time Jan-14-09 18:30:00 PST)

Or how about this one...

GIBSON HISTORIC 59 1959 R9 TOM MURPHY AGED LES PAUL - eBay (item 320331024537 end time Jan-16-09 07:36:46 PST)

2nd one is breathtaking, but I think it'd look better without all the aged hardware!

Re: Big Top R9

I like the first one. Just wish it wasn't aged and was cherry sunburst. At $7500 that would be the very top of the market for me and a historic. And with no brazillian and what I think is terrible aging, I'll continue the search. I LOVE that 3d tiger top.

Re: Big Top R9

I can't stand the bogus check lines on the black faced headstock. And the back and neck wear do not look authentic either. No way I'd pay that kind of money for a really nice guitar that IMO was messed up by excessive artificial aging that doesn't look very real to me. Sorry, I'm just not into the exacto knife aging process AT ALL.

Am I the only one who noticed that the first one is a left over Rossington?

You guy's are slipping.

Mark, it's actually one that they did for the Japanese market that looks just like the Rossington, except without the serial number and documentation. They did a limited run of these. And I have to say, that I'm not normally a fan of the Rossingtons (I sold mine a while back), but I really like this one.
