52-59 Conversion Sold for much cheaper than asking price

Did anyone see this?

Vintage 1952 Gibson Les Paul Conversion 1959 Burst - eBay (item 290280040502 end time Dec-08-08 23:06:49 PST)

I know it was for sale for some time, but it sold for less than 40% of asking price. I wonder if the bidder was just messing around ($7,777 offer).

If you're hurting for cash, you'd be surprised what some people are willing to take for their stuff right now.

I wonder. Wouldn't he have to pay a chunk of cash to eBay though. That's a bit of money on a $7,777 sale.

Beyond that, I'm curious about the shop. Just look at their other auctions. Is/Was that the home base for Max and our very own Mr. Rist? Sounds like a cool shop to visit.

I suspect the offer was made, and he was SURPRISED he got it so damn cheap!! Isn't it funny how many people come out of the woodword AFTER a sale, and are never to be seen when something is availible? Woulda, coulda, shoulda!! If it came back up for sale at $7500, the same people who are kicking themselves now for not buying it, will be hiding again.

The guy who runs the shop used to post here briefly. He got in a few heated arguments and left. He might be back.

Re: 52-59 Conversion Sold for much cheaper than asking price

The reason it went for so low, is it had a whole LOT done to it. AND just the fact that it ain't a real "Burst". But just the fact that it IS a real Gibson LP, first year nonetheless, makes it a steal. Pristine DOLL! WHAT a TOP!!!
