Holy Grail!!!!!
I have always thought that the '58-'60 Les Paul Standards were the Holy Grail.

Well, it IS rare (never seen one in cherry, and with a gold TRC), but definately not "$15K" rare. And, definitely NOT a "Holy Grail"!
They're not bad guitars, though.

Not sure how I feel about the stained finish. The maple used was from Austria - a beautiful fiddleback curl. I think it kind of screws it up to have it in any finish other than natural. Then again, maybe there's something screwy with the curl on this one to begin with and they stained it to cover it up - hence, the "second" designation. I love the wood bits & pieces on these guitars. Also, the ebony-rosewood-ebony fretboard with the abalone inlays. Definitely one fancy-assed mofo. Maybe not Holy Grail, but an agnostic chalice, at the very least...

ok i have seen and played hundreds of les pauls in my 47 years on the planet , that said does anyone know why " second " would be stamped on this ?
it looks really awesome , not $15k awesome imho , but still imho it looks sweet ! love the stained flame wood neck ! preety cool one imho ! anybody have a idea about the stamp ? |
