It probably has a 9DDD7xxx impressed SN you cannot see in that picture. The non-reissue Customs did not move to the Custom Shop until 2002 or so.

Re: 97 Gibson Les Paul Custom - No serial?

Is this a good deal for a '97 LP Custom? I assume they're weight relieved. Are they any different from the Standards at this point though aside from the gold hardware, binding on back and Ebony fretboard?

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on anything below $2,000.

It's a heavy beast too. She weighs just under 10 pounds.

Re: 97 Gibson Les Paul Custom - No serial?

Ok I have a question about the '57 gibson custom 3 pup black beauty remakes. Which pups did they use in them? I read on musicians friend description for the gibson black beauty there, that they used burstbuckers but it didnt specify whether they where just bb or bb pro's or what. And I also wanted to know which models were used in which positions. the reason is I have an epi black beauty that im trying to fix up like the gibson model and I wanted to know which pups they used in gibsons so I can put them in mine. Thank you for any info you can give.

Re: 97 Gibson Les Paul Custom - No serial?

You would ASSUME the 57 reissues would have 57 classics in them but we all know what assuming does. Either way you can't go wrong with a burstbucker 3 i the bridge and 2's in the mid and neck or just all 57's. Most folks I know don't like the BB pros

What?

I can clearly see the serial number in the pictures.

EDIT...I see...the serial pictures were added later.

To the seller: Don't apologize or make excuses for that serial number. Don't mention extra paint. There is NOTHING unusual or abnormal about that serial number. You can scare off squeamish buyers by bringing up something totally normal as something that might not be quite right.
