Another confused dealer

This is not a 1999 R8, it is a 1998 Custom Shop guitar, that is NOT a reissue. It is merely a Custom Shop Custom.

Before 1999 the Custom Shop Customs and Standards used a serial number scheme much like the Les Paul Classic, but the second digit was almost always a "9". The first digit was the year it was made. 7 9xxx is 1997, 8 9xxx is 1998. In 1999 they went to CS 9xxx.
