Re: HCN Inlay install guided tour - R7 & R8 (PICS)
I can't believe Gibson doesn't jump on these inlays Dave has !!! I compared my R8 to all the Historics in my local shop and every guy in the place was GAGA for Dave's !!! At the very least the anniversary Historics should get them !! If not all Historics !!!!! Hey Henry !!! Are you out there reading this ?? I hope !

Re: HCN Inlay install guided tour - R7 & R8 (PICS)
Hey guys ... I still have a few lil spots of super glue on the fingerboard ... Should i sand them with some 2000 grit or use a chemical of some sort to clean it up ??? Some of it seems to be in the pores of the rosewood ... I know nail polish remover takes off crazy glue but i'm afraid of what it might do to the board !!! What ya think buyusfear ???

You don't want to chemicals, i'd just use a razor blade to shave the area down. Then buff area with a super fine sandpaper, like a 1200 or 2000 grit. then steel wool the entire fret board using 0000 super fine wool. make sure to tape off the top around the neck and the neck pickup, or else it will fill up will steel bits. Rub vigorously up and down the length of the neck. Then condition the fretboard with what ever you chose, I prefer Fret Doctor.
If you look at my most recent pics, you can see the pores of the rosewood super clean and open. Thats thanks to the steel wool. |

Re: HCN Inlay install guided tour - R7 & R8 (PICS)
It may be too late now, but for future people using this tutorial, I always like to give the word of caution when using steel wool. ALWAYS cover your pickups fully with painters tape or masking tape or the like before using steel wool anywhere on the guitar. The little steel wool bits that inevitably come out when you use it get stuck to the pickups and can work their way down into the coils and cause shorts. Never a good thing.
The inlays look wicked awesome guys!! |

Re: HCN Inlay install guided tour - R7 & R8 (PICS)
They look great, and it's not just down to the quality inlays. The attention to detail and work ethic makes it. Classy guitars aren't a bad starting point either
It's great seeing something done so well, nice work.
