Bridge elements are loose?

While cleaning the hardware of my LP studio this weekend I noticed the bridge elements, i.e. saddles I think they're called, were loose.
I cleaned the bridge in water with a soft brush and I had to keep my finger on one side of the bridge to keep the saddles of jumping out of place.
Is this normal or is there like a piece missing here that keeps everything in place?

Also, when checking the intonation, the saddle moved out of the bridge and I had to push it back in..

Not sure if you get what I mean..?

Re: Bridge elements are loose?

Can anyone point me to a picture of the backside of a tune-o-matic bridge?
Or a diagram of this piece?

Re: Bridge elements are loose?

I am totally new to these forums and also to any Gibson style guitars.

Is THIS Like what you have? There should be a wire going above the saddle screws to hold them in when there is not string tension. Just from what I have read around here yesterday, the wire will sometimes buzz so you may have to crimp id down or bend it so it exerts more pressure on the center screws.

Re: Bridge elements are loose?

Hello paragon;
yes, that's exactly what I needed. Seems there is no wire on my LP studio (anymore?).
I'll try to order one from here in BE and fit it next time I string my guitar.

Thanks for the link!
