Re: How To Relic A Guitar
so relicing a guitar is technically taking all the hardware and the neck off and damaging the body o.0

Well...sometimes they leave the hardware on it. :0

Re: How To Relic A Guitar
........... ............. well. if they wanna damage the hardware allright. but i dont see the point of possibly loosing good sound. and ruining your hardware. truthfully. i dont see the point of damaging a perfectly good guitar!!!!!

Re: How To Relic A Guitar
I have found ridiculous amounts of resources, links, etc. on relicing nickel, chrome, and gold hardware. But I am currently working on a reliced strat with black hardware, the matte kind. Does anyone know if the same methods (tumbler, muriatic acid) apply or if I need to go about this differently? I appreciate the help.

Re: How To Relic A Guitar
Hey thanks for the advice. Can I get a little more info? 1st off, what kind of damage would it do to the plating. 2nd, can you explain "smoking" to me? And 3rd, would some light steel wool work in place of the door mat? Thanks for the help!

Re: How To Relic A Guitar
checking has to be done with a exacto knife blade to look 100% correct . It takes a long time but looks very real compared to the freeze method , that to me looks way off real checking .

Re: How To Relic A Guitar
I have seen a lot of bad knife checking.
Also, what if the laquer starts to check by itself over time áfter the knife checking, now that would look bad... |

Which "freeze" method are you talking about? One looks good since it's practically the way it happened anyway, and the other looks cheesy.
