Swap Sperzel back to Vintage Tuners (What kind?)
I have a 2000' Classic with Sperzel tuners and I'd like to go back to non-locking tuners. I've been told the tuner holes were made slightly larger for the Sperzel tuners.
I spoke with shops saying Gibson now makes larger (post?) tuners for new models being released that would fit the wider holes I would have. Anyone know a proper name or part number I can reference for this or a link to shop selling them . Below are links to Guitar Center and Gibson tuner pages Tuning Machine Heads including WD Music, Sperzel, and Grover-Trophy Gibson Guitar Parts Store - Hardware |

Re: Swap Sperzel back to Vintage Tuners (What kind?)
hey, if you find your tuners, can i have them?
one thing, becuase the new tuners you want arer the tulip kluson tuners, you will need a converion bushing to make sure they fit... here one at stewmac: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/T..._Bushings.html otherwise, if your going to use grovers, then it should be a direct replacement, all you pruably need to do is drill out the screwholes foe the tuners.......

Re: Swap Sperzel back to Vintage Tuners (What kind?)
Are you interested in the Sperzels?
I was going to put them up for sale anyway at a good price here and on ebay. You can have first dibs, $50.00 shipped. They are black and only about 3 years old. I have ebay feedback for references. Those bushings sound like they'll do the trick. I can use the stock gibson "classic" tuners with then. I'm assume they'll work with them. I'm going to check with my luthier, -he should have these bushings in stock to begin with. Thanks. Quote:
