NOS MULLARD TROPICAL FISH 0.022uF 250V CAPACITORS

Anyone tried these out before??? seen some for sale thought I might give them ago. Wondering if they would be an improvement on the current caps used by Gibson???
Cheers!

ANYTHING other than what Gibson uses would be an improvement...

They might just be better, even though they are very old and are not nearly what they would have been when they were new.
Caps do not age well weather they were ever used or not. The .022 might be what the original value was but it is not likely what it is now. Do you know the voltage rating? Probably up around 400-600v. They are used more for amps than guitars.

Re: NOS MULLARD TROPICAL FISH 0.022uF 250V CAPACITORS

I have some packages of NOS Phillips tropical fish. 10 per pack. Not sure if I have 0.022uF, definitely have 0.015uF, 0.047uF, and 0.0047uF. The problem with these isn't so much the drift you see from the changes in the oil dielectric in PIO caps, but they become brittle and the legs can snap out easily. That said, they're great caps and work well in pedals. Probably not the best choice for a guitar but there's nothing stopping you.
