Re: stacked single coils?

I have a Kinman Avn-69 in the neck position of my Warmoth Strat.

I also have a set of DiMarzio Area's in my 83' Strat. 61 at the bridge and 58's in the neck and middle.

I all are absolutely amazing sounding pickups. Granted I don't know what "true" vintage sounds like, but all of these pickups are truly great. I will put the DiMarzios in any Strat I get from here on out. The Kinmans are great, but more expensive and a little harder to get quickly.

All are dead quiet. Even more than any standard humbucker I've used. I can't recommend these highly enough.

Re: stacked single coils?

If you're looking for a noiseless single coil, Kinman's are outstanding. Not cheap, however.

If you're looking for a single coil sized humbucker, there are tons.

Re: stacked single coils?

What's the difference between stacking and running in series? I always thought they were the same.

Re: stacked single coils?

All humbuckers are a pair of coils run in series.
Stacked humbuckers are one coil on top of the other in a single coil size.
Noiseless single coils usually have something added to them (and it's usually stacked with the single coil of the pickup) to make them noiseless.
But there's really nothing I'm aware of identified as a "stacked single coil".

The neovins are really good like the ones from guitarfetish.com

"But there's really nothing I'm aware of identified as a "stacked single coil"."

single coils that are stacked! i have 3 stacked humbuckers on a vintage av3p. but they are "p90's" so thats why i call them stacked single coils!

Vintage Advance AV3P

i was thinking of the neovins. i wish i could buy one on it's own. how is the Neodymium vs ceramic magnet? i'm not a fan of ceramic pups.

Re: stacked single coils?

Check out Kinman. I believe he's now making noiseless P-90's.
