Hey. By fingerboard spaces, do you mean frets? You better use the stewmac fret calculator for that. Here is the link, its pretty easy to use. Fret scales at Stewart-MacDonald

I'll be replicating a mockingbird neck for a customers LP soon.
I have no idea what the specs are but he will be sending his mockingbird for measurments.

Re: Les Paul sizes

Check around on these forums -- you'll find several sets of accurate plans for building Les Paul guitars, including fret spacing. If you have any problems, contact Stewmac.com for plans and tools and probably even a video or book or two that will help you along the way.

Re: Les Paul sizes

Which reminds me -- what brilliant individual living in what tornado path trailer park in Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plain) came up with the idea of stifling or limiting the discussion of how you can determine a fake/copy of a Gibson guitar because he thinks it might be abetting the fakers in building better guitars?

The information is out there and has been for years -- if people like Baranet and Derrig and Rist and the rest can crank out an accurate copy of a Gibson guitar, then doncha think that the fakers, if they were serious about it, could do the same? They've already got all the information they need -- you're not going to give them something new. I swear, I can hear the wind blowing across the plains all right, but it's the grassland between the ears of whoever came up with the "Shhh, don't tell them everything we know" moron that's wafting in the breeze.

I have only read one remark relevant to what you wrote once here in the forum. It was about a year ago and I found it bothersom, especially because it was made by somebody that is excessivly idolized here. I have not seen anybody trying to keep secrets since then. Then again, I don't read every single post.
Where have you experienced this "trade secret" hush up?

I think Harmony lives in Oklahoma....it must have been her.

Here's your joke of the day:
What does a divorce in Oklahoma and a tornado in Oklahoma have in common?

They both mean some sucker's gonna lose a trailer!

I've seen this pretty frequently on MLP when discussing potential fakes.
Most recently alluded to in one of DitDah's posts in the Gibson LP section:

"With all the posts on fakes...I sometimes wonder if the people producing / selling these fakes come to these forums to "learn" and see how easily their fake is spotted before they try to sell it... all the while...we tell them exactly whats wrong with it..."
