There is more than one of us.

What part of Virginia are you in?

Re: the angel les paul ?

The Flying V with a (somewhat) wobbly bevel already exists and it's less appealing than you might think.

For some inspiration on how to make something original and really different, you might want to have a look at Neal Moser's work: Moser Custom Shop, Fine Handmade Guitars and BC Rich Parts

What does u mean? Typing ability dose not translate into playing ability, or knowledge, and construction ability...

Dennis, River, I’m sorry to say but I’m starting get the impression that your the type of guitarists that thinks their better then every one else, when theirs plenty of people who could either rape you, or they suck compared to you, I posted this thread for musicians and luthiers particularly to comment on, not vain guitarists... comment as you wish, however unless its something positive or a suggestion, I’m just going to ignore you...

I do agree with you that this is a tricky build, however Dennis, building a guitar is pretty simple in theory, (design, trail with cardboard (to make sure u like the body shape), cut body, neck, paint, attach neck and hardware, install the electronics, wire, close it up, and do the set up and your basic electric guitar is ready to play.)

its understandable that at this point in time though, that you doubt my ability to build this guitar, given you really don’t know anything about me aside from what guitars I have, and that I’m a student (I never said what type of student I am though, could be going to collage for all that’s known) ... but that isn’t anything to base my knowledge or ability off of. If you doubt it so much, then don’t comment on this thread and when I’ve cut the body (which will most likely be in the next few days) I’ll send u a picture of it via PM.

Thank you btw V!N, and yes, I’ve seen the Gibson V2.. I also know about how they where not a great commercial success, honestly I don’t think I’m going to build the V shape, I’d be to concerned about the body being weak (due to all the beveling id have to do on it.) unfortunately though I cannot see the pictures atm due to the computer I’m on, however when I get home I will take a look at them, I’ve gotten the wood slab today and I’ll be doing shaping on it soon.

Thanks to everybody who is supporting me on this and is giving thoughtful suggestions and comments

yeah -- once again I'd like to suggest that you consider going neck-through. Here's my old V; it's not particularly metal *looking* (it was constructed in the mid-70's), but it came originally with SD Invaders that were pulled for the current Tom Andersons. Trust me, you don't need EMGs to do metal. But that aside, you can see what neck-through does for you on the back of the neck:

Hm....all of a sudden he CAN spell!
What proper use of language rules shows, is respect for others who have to try to read your posts.
If you can spell now, why couldn't you earlier?
Good luck with your 'bluid'.

P.S. I can barely play the major and minor chords, but I never said I could play better than anyone else.

P.P.S. A 'collage' student would know that 'collage' is spelled 'college.

Yes I am, but most of the time, when I post I’ll just be to lazy to spell check it :P its just a bad habit of mine that I never seem to get over, its not that I’m bad at spelling, its just i don’t really pay attention to spelling if spell check is off and the word sounds right to me lol, anyways thanks dennistruckdriver

I’ve gotten a nice piece of KORINA!!!!!! and ill start shaping the body sometime this week...

Oh! i called about the Rotary selector!, it'll be about $13.50 for a 6-way selector, but... since this guitar is a 2 pick up EMG, 3 switch options are going to be disabled, but that means ill have a "ghetto" kill switch

Why yes, I believe that it did, and that is where I took the um... "non-existent cutaway"(lol no idea what its called when its cut like that but you know... from, also if you look at it and lay my design over it its almost the same kinda... (see below for the differences between the guitars) right now Ive changed the angle of the horn so its kinda bass like now, but after the cardboard trail i realized it would be to staby so i made the horn straighter up aside from that i made the body basically the same size as my LP and the lines follow my LP pretty closely all i have to do now is trace the design onto the wood and cut

Well, good for you, my friend.

Which reminds me, OP, did you add "luthier(s)" to your spell check?
