Best Refin Dudes?
I have a flametop Tokai Paul I'm considering a top-only refinish on. It has kind of a muddy orange thing going on and I'm just not lovin' it. I'm going to be relatively particular about the coloration of the burst...so who are the top guys out there for this kind of work? (besides Murphy and Dave Johnson...those guys are out of my price range) Champagne on a beer budget best describes my situation.
![]() The guitar has a nitro finish now so I'd prefer that over poly, but I might open up to the idea of poly. |

Re: Best Refin Dudes?
Where are you at? Better to find someone local.
Shipping is going to add more money to the price.

Re: Best Refin Dudes?
I think you have to have specialized equipment to use nitro in CA.
You can't just paint in an open shop. CA has some tough enviro laws, and the booth has to be made to their spec. Other luthiers in CA do it as well; you should be able to find someone local. BB
