Arrrgh.... I could use some help
I changed my new R9 strings for the 1st time tonight. I tried to be extra careful. I've changed strings probably 1,000 times. I scratched the headstock in two small spots near the g-string tuner removing the g-string. Then, being the stupid perfectionist I am I got the polish out. Well, now I have a "Les Paul _ _ del". I rubbed off the paint for the letters m and o in 'model'. Man, I just really hate when I screw up. The older I get I still mess-up. What can I do? It's kinda eating me up as I just did it. I've had this guitar for about 10 months. Any advice other than "put the polish down and slowly walk away"? Thanks

Re: Arrrgh.... I could use some help
Is Gibson the only realistic answer? How much am i willing to spend? I don't know.....yet. Any ideas for a remedy? It looks wrong. I told my wife and she says I'm an idiot. Prolly right.

Re: Arrrgh.... I could use some help
Gibson is not the only answer. There are guys that do restorations and could fix the headstock paint as long as it is an actual Gibson. You will pay a lot and will probably be put on a very long waiting list.
I would just stop looking at it and leave it alone. What ever you do, do not make it worse by getting a cheap waterslide decal. That "Les Paul Model" is paint and it is silk screened on. "I don't understand 'remove the d'? Yes an LP with no mods....poor attempt at humor. |

Re: Arrrgh.... I could use some help
Thanks for the advice. The funny thing is the new strings sound GREAT! Adds insult to injury. I've modded a 92 LP Standard with p-ups, caps, pots....and this R9 just sounds so good. How much is a silk screen job?
