How exactly to change the bridge? What about the studs?

I want more sustain on my 1994 Gibson LP Studio. From what I gathered on the forum, the thing to do (besides playing with better vibrato etc) is lowering the tailpiece all the way down and wrapping the strings around. OK, easy enough. Then I'm planing to order TonePros Standard Tune-O-Matic Bridge (Small Posts) with Graph Tech Saddles. According to the measures, it'll fit right into my guitar, no modifications needed.

But what about the studs? (or bushings, if that's what it's called, the part that goes into the wood) My two questions are:

1 - Is it a matter of simply pulling out the old studs and pushing in the new ones? If so, do I need any lubricant for easier penetration (don't start any jokes, please I know how this sounds ) into the wood, or some paste, adhesive or whatever for better fitting? (for better vibration transfer)

2 - You guys are WAAAAY MUCH MORE experienced in this. What do you think, is this worth it? With setting the tailpiece down & wrapping the strings, and installing that locking TonePros with Graph Tech Saddles, will I obtain a clearly better sustain, or are we talking about self-bull$hiting ?

Thank you.

Leave the original tail piece studs in, no real reason to remove them.

Just put the new parts on, intonate and set up the action to your liking and rock and roll!

Have you ment "bridge studs"? I will not change the tailpiece, just lower it. If you ment the bridge studs, than it's great. I will do like you said. Less work

I would really appreciate your opinion: with that bridge and saddles, will I actually get longer sustain? Significantly longer?

Thank you very much for your input.

That too, same bridge inserts. Yes, you will get more sustain. How much I don't know. I know people like them.

Mine's better but only comes in stainless, not gold.

Re: How exactly to change the bridge? What about the studs?

I did this video yesterday for another guitar forum. The Gibson bushings are smaller than the metric ones for the ESP, but the process I use is the same.

Sabre-saw.

I use a shoestring that I run under two sides of the knob. It goes against my "anti-pulling" stance in the bushing vid, but it works pretty well.
