IF the rear holes for the stop bar were not there, I woulda said go single Stopbar tailpiece, I dont know how big your hand is, and which neck profiles feel best for you . IF money isnt an issue, get some sweet Grovers in Nickel and hope you cawn match em to the rest of your hardware

Gold flakes too soon and many times when it does it winds up lookin cheesy bad, Love the color of the body, Just see if you can get the neck to match well enough, Cream rings? Gold Top Hats or Speed Knobbies perhaps

But with a custom (as in the model ) style neck (block inlays and such but with a R8 neck profile!)

Re: Help decide parts to finish my les paul build

Electronics--RS Guitarworks Vintage or Modern Kit, depending on the sound you want

The single tailpiece/stopbar is a great idea. That would look pretty cool.

Block inlays, BRW board, and a R8 or R9 profile would be awesome.

While I love the natural finish on the redwood, a gloss finish would be mind-blowing. Gold hardware would be a stunning addition, but as noted above it will tarnish and peel off after time--at least on the bridge/tailpiece area. (which can look cool as well). If not gold, then nickel all the way.

That's going to be a heck of an axe. It'd be a great discharge-from-the-Army gift.

Cheers, and thanks for your service!

Re: Help decide parts to finish my les paul build

You're very welcome, bro--be sure and post some updates.

You know, I never knew the joy of a single stopbar tail piece until I played that '57 LP Special in Nashville last weekend (see my avatar pic)...it just felt "right..."

On the flip side...for intonation purposes, the standard LP setup is pretty much the standard...

Can't wait to see the finished product!

Buy good stuff now, and you won't have to upgrade later.

A wrap around tailpiece won't work, it already is drilled for a traditional set up

Re: Help decide parts to finish my les paul build

That'd probably work out better for intonation, anyway.

The pic of the top looks awesome...can't wait to see the finished product.
