Les Paul Goldtop w/ black back project
Just bought a handmade les paul 3 months ago. The guitar is really amazing, but had a poor silver sparkle finish. The idea is to recreate the Slash's stolen goldtop with black back.
Here is my baby with the original finish: ![]() ![]() Here it is after sanding the top. Found a pretty cedar top: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() More pics soon! |

Man, I'd oil up that top and keep it like that!

Is it the light or does it look very green? Is it a copper flake based gold colour?
I really look forward to this. Gold and black is a awesome combo. + I currently GAS a goldtop |

Re: Les Paul Goldtop w/ black back project
So what happens next? Do you scrape the binding and clear coat it?
Can you post another shot of the headstock, the first one is hard to see with the pattern on the floor. Are you getting new knobs and selector switch plate? |

NIIIICE!
Looks awesome.. you should have a great guitar for a good price at the end of this! A question: the body, does it look a bit "off" to anyone else? I mean, the upper "dip" (the bit between the big bridge curve/rounding and small neck curve/rounding) seems a bit broad compared to other LPs I have seen.... Just an observation, please correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Les Paul Goldtop w/ black back project
ya man that's dope. I don't have the balls to do something like that to mine (yet). What brand/kind of paint are you using for each process?
