blasphemy, im going to swirl paint the 56 GT RI

yes, the gold top is going to go psychedelic! the top has already been stripped and is waiting for primer... then *gasp* a swirl paint job! just like the ones i do on pedals ... im going to wait for it to dry out to paint it, its rained all week... so pics will come when she gets painted... as far as how the stripping process went, all i can say is fuxck polyurethane. you may ask why i did/am doing this... well, i really dont like gold tops i got the itch to buy one because they appealed to me at the time, but the MAIN reason was I wanted a LP with P90s.... i know, why not buy this or that yada yada yada, oh well it is what it is lol... Some will love it, some will wonder wtf... Anyways... i think its gonna be bad ass!

Well, heck, it's your guitar, Bling. Do what ya want. (Be careful about too much paint though. I've heard more than one tale of a heavy paint job robbing a guitar of its tonality..and it's not like the Epi's have it in spades from their Hamburger Helper bodies...)

Aircraft Stripper is what you need to kill poly. Give that a shot next time.

This could be very interesting.... I always thought Steve Vai's swirly guitars were kind of neat:

You should paint the p90 covers too, that would be sick!

yeah i thought about that myself (thick paint job) so im gonna thin the paints pretty well and practice on a few boards of wood before i get the consistency right to do an even coat while staying thin... then ill go back over it with a clear coat

Awesome!!! Make sure Will gets lots and lots of photos of this cool guitar project when you're finished.

Have at it, Bling! You gonna strip the finish off the back too?

Sweet. Bet it will look awesome. Maybe post a few pics of the process? Unless it's a secret

What are doing to our guitar, Ryan?! I have never encountered this much fail in a single idea since Michael Jackson hung one of his kids over a balcony!!

Just kidding, can't wait to see the results... even if I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I think it will be cool, though not for me.

I would seriously consider turning one of those into a coppertop though, those are sweet looking.
