I'm not going to practice on anyone's guitar but will give it a go on some practice pieces I have. If I'm unsatisfied (which is quite likely) I'll have to go with the original plan of just the transcherry or whatever trans~color he would like. Thanks again really appreciate insight from someone who's actually done this with the same products for similar reasons. ![]() No doubt about it, THIS PLACE IS AN AWESOME COMMUNITY!

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
Looking great! I can't wait to see what Last does to it! Either way, awesome project, and it's really going to be your guitar. What are you doing about inlays?
(Of course, you won't be able to read my post because you've got all the Quebec members on your ignore list )

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
VERY cool! And very nice work, too. It's giving me ideas for my Memphis. (Hardly a BFG, but I have to work with what I have.)
Last, I love that "nudeburst" of yours, I like the contrast of the bridge pieces, too. |

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
Member Ole'Lefty will be adding a new headstock overlay and some real pearl inlays, along with binding on the body, neck, and "binding" on the headstock.
Last will probably be doing a transparent cherry red unless I can talk him into a Vintage Sunburst ![]() All in all, I am very excited to get this project finished and start playing it again.

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
Just a note, I was going to change out the gold polepieces in the 57+ but I think, with the gold/silver reflector knobs, I like the two tone look. When I get a chrome or nickel cover that will fit the pickup, I think it'll look like a nice two-tone Rolex. (nod to Tim there, even though he hates the two tones
) Not sure if I need to get a chrome P90 cover and gold polepieces for it yet or not... haven't quite decided. Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
I haven't had a chance to send the box and loaner to David. I have been laid up- I can't drive because I can't properly control my right leg/foot. I can walk short distances with a cane but the more I try to push, the more I interfere with the meds and at least temporarily the reduction in the muuscle spasms. Spasms are getting better but I have to keep still-tomorrow I have no choice but to drive to St. Louis to appear in a Federal court case. So, I can't take the chance of the condition getting worse from trying to drive now. A client's whole future life depends upon me down there. Sorry, dj. I will have someone get things to Fed Ex , by Saturday, or possibly while I am gone. It is a messy situation- I'm feeling pretty guilty. I will do my best. Mike
It gets possibly worse because the mechanics and I are not positive we have fixed the "limp mode" problem on my car, so I may have to drive my 4WD S-10 "Buckboard" down and back. |

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
It's okay, man. Take care of yourself first because my guitar is just a guitar, nothing lost nothing gained at the end of all.
Can't say it enough, you're more important, so try not to let it bother you. Concentrate on feeling better and doing what you need to in court.

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
Okay, its a given that I'm going to keep the gold polepieces and put a chrome or nickel cover on the bridge pup.
What do you guys think, should I get some gold polepieces and a chrome cover for the P90 or leave it black plastic with silver?

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
I say ya start with black plastic, and see how it looks then if ya dont like it buy the covers.

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
Ya, I think I like the black. But I may have to use gold screws or else it may look weird.

Re: BFG Refinish -- Flame top?!
Makes ME wish I had bought the damn thing myself when I saw you list it in the Members Classifieds.
However I just would have refinished it then sold it off. Nice to see it hang onto the MLP community. Especially with a guy like Dave.
