How to Distress/Green Tint Goldtop?

Hey guys,

I've scraped my `58 Korina Imperiale for an Aged/Relic'd `56 Goldtop.
I`d like to know two things if possible?

1) how would I tint the Korina for a dark back? I have walnut pore grain filler, should I spray medium brown nitro until I get the desired color?

2) How can I get that greenish tint on the Gold Nitro? I've got Guitar Re-Ranch spray, which I've used in the past, and I like the results.

Thanks,

Peach

Re: How to Distress/Green Tint Goldtop?

The green effect is a result of the bronze powder oxidizing. Maybe leave the flakes uncleared before clearcoat so they start then hope it continues after clearing. But the best way is to carefully buff most of the clear away from the areas you want to green and let nature take its course.

Just be careful if you plan on forcing the aging process. I have seen guitars get exposed to chemicals to start the process, then cleared and after a while the whole guitar turns army man green.
