Aerosol Laquer Questions

I plan on spraying a homemade LP with reranch aerosol lacquer. I will have to do it outside since I don't have a proper spray booth. My question is what conditions do I need to have? Is it temperature, humidity, relative humidity within a certain range?
Thanks for any input

Ugh ... I don't recommned spraypaint at all, but if you must ...
I'd be concerned with humidity, wind, (and bugs).

Just pick a nice pretty day with low humidity (and no wind) and you'll be fine.
I strongly suggest you to take it inside to dry though.

Re: Aerosol Laquer Questions

I was going to spray inside a portable wardrobe as many here have suggested. I suppose I could do it in my basement but I am a bit worried about the fumes etc. I have a proper mask and can open windows but I thought I'd take it outside to be safe.

If you use a decent filtered mask, youre good. But make sure you got good ventilation anyways...

Another spraycan tip : Set your cans in hot water just prior to spraying. It helps with atomization and provides better flow.

Re: Aerosol Laquer Questions

The smell is bad, ventilation is a must. Contrary to many, you can get good results with spray cans. Definitely warm them up first. Get the tap water hot, fill up a bowl and put your cans in, just like if you were chillin beers.

This burst was done with Stewmac Vintage amber and Red Mahogany.

Nice!

I've painted alot of guitars with spraycans.
Painting with cans usually isn't a problem ... clearcoat it.

Re: Aerosol Laquer Questions

Don't forget to get a can of anti-blush spray. In the high humidity areas, your paint will haze up.
