Question Refretting/Fret dressing

I think my old trusty epi les paul is due for a little resort in my country's service centre.
But how do you know for sure when you need to refret or let your frets redressed? I've had it for 5 years or so and I noticed that the frets are almost trapezes and not half cylinders (if that makes any sense?).

If needed I'll try to post some decent pictures.

Thanks and Grtz,

Mesa.

Re: Refretting/Fret dressing

i had my strat refretted by dennis at bluefrets.com, awesome workmanship, and really good prices... if you decide to go with a refret this is the guy, i acutally have my classic off to his place for a fret dressing at the moment as well lol...

Re: Refretting/Fret dressing

I think that the time when you have to refret is when you can't set the intonation properly and bridge and trussrod adjusting doesn't make any better.

Cheers :)

You would need to refret when they are worn down too much. I am sure you have plenty of meat on them for a fret dress.
