Best Guitar Polish

Hey guys! I have a ltd kh-202 (kirk hammett sig) and getting ready to sell it. the thing is riddled with fine scratches and i want to clean it up. what is a good polish that would remove most of the fine scratches and polish it?

any help is appreciated. thanks!!

Re: Best Guitar Polish

Try searching threads in other sections of MLP, like the Luthier's Corner. This has been covered extensively lately, and a new thread on the subject may not get any attention, from my experience.

Re: Best Guitar Polish

I agree... use the seach feature, etc.
That being said, I think the Virtuoso Cleaner and Polish are great.

Re: Best Guitar Polish

I really dont use polish that much, but Virtuoso seems to get rave reviews around this place... Id say thats a safe bet.

Re: Best Guitar Polish

WoW, that polish works great!
But does it remove scratches too?

If not, I'd maybe use a light compound to get the scratches out and then follow it up with that polish.

BTW ... I really want that Goldtop!

Re: Best Guitar Polish

I just got some Restoration polish... they make a big deal out of the fact that it is silicone-free, which is important if the guitar ever needs to be repaired.
Anyone else buy this? I have to admit, I'm not totally wild about the results with it. The Gibson pump polish worked better, silicone or not.

Virtuoso? Really?
No luck at my Guitar Center ... they've never even heard of it.

Does anybody else carry it?

Dino, you might have to place an order if none of your local shops carry it. Here's the link to The Virtuoso Polish website. You can purchase direct from them and it's cheaper than what I paid at GC.

Welcome to Virtuoso Premium Polish & Cleaner. To place a telephone order, please call 818-992-4733.

Good luck on your quest for shinyness!

Thanks. The only 2 guitars I still own out of those pics are the Classic Antique and the CS-356. That Custom was sold to another forum member... and you're right, it is a special guitar!

Re: Best Guitar Polish

Use 3M Finesse It II first, then Meguiar's Scratch-X. It'll look like brand new. I use one of those polishing discs that fit on my power drill, the kind you get from Stew-Mac, the yellow microfiber ones. Works miracles on a scratched up finish. As long as the scratches are just in the finish, and not down to the color coat, you can get all of them out with this setup. Works WONDERS!

Re: Best Guitar Polish

on my satin lp neck, i used ScratchX and it cleaned it up like a charm! the ernie ball 65 polish doesn't harm satin that much either.

also, i called GC and asked if they had virtuoso guitar polish and he says "in the typical GC asshole sarcastic voice"

no we don't have it. why do you want to polish a guitar? it doesn't make you any better.

i said because i like a shiny and clean guitar.

he says, "pussy" and hangs up. i called back, but talked to the manager, he had some code name i can't remember lol. it was funny how girl called him up. anyways, the guy said that he's had all kinds of trouble with this guy and "won't be here tomorrow"

this is the GC in the new TownsSquare in Vegas.
