Re: My Tele Project - Graphic Heavy

She's looking great!!!

BTW, the neck was shipped "Priority Mail," this morning. They said it should be there in 3 days. Please let me know when it arrives. (I've sent you a PM with the tracking info.)

Take care,
Ace

hahaha yeah, I'm gonna smooth it out with a little sandpaper and a scotchbrite pad, s'posed to you look like where your stomach would have rubbed against it for 40 years or so.

Re: My Tele Project - Graphic Heavy

Thats awesome man!

I just got a highway-one Telecaster and the nitro finish on it is pretty soft. I kind of want to relic it, but then again... I relic my guitars the old fashioned way if you know what I mean!

Can't wait to see the final out-come man! Keep up the good work!

Re: My Tele Project - Graphic Heavy

Yeah, I dunno if I could bring myself to relic a real fender or gibson.

Awesome you got the nitro finish tho! Nitro was just too expensive to use on something I wasn't sure I was gonna do a good job on, lol.

Re: My Tele Project - Graphic Heavy

I dunno, once I realized that it looked like the joe strummer, I sought a pic from the back of that one, because I wasn't sure of how to go about doing the back. That's the way the pics looked... at least once I smooth the cuts out a bit with a scotchpad.

The nitro finish on Highway One models is applied over clear poly, or, 'Fullerplast'. You can scuff the color off with a Scotchbrite pad, and not worry about wearing into the wood.
I had a Strat body that I stripped. The hard finish underneath the color would just DESTROY a piece of sandpaper on my 1/3 sheet sander in seconds!
Good luck!

P.S. Here's DJ trying to wire his Telecrapper:

Well then, you, of all people, should know that those wires won't work!

How old do you think I am, Huckleberry. You of all people should know that's not me.

I'd come closer to saying its you, but I know you're not that good with wires.

"Telecrapper"

Thats really interesting to know. I love guitars with some wear and tear on them, but I wouldn't ever do it on purpose like some of the guys on here. I think its cool that people do that, but I personally wouldn't ever do it to my guitars.

But, the difference between me and (I guess) a lot of MLP members, is I am a 21 year old in a band that is actually active, playing damn near everyday, playing gigs, playing out of town, recording, etc... My guitars get USED a lot.

Therefore, mine naturally get "relic'ed" from my daily use. There is a memory from every scuff, scratch, and dent on my guitars.

Have fun purposely doign that your guitars. Its an art form, but so is actually playing/using them

"Telecrapper" = LAWLZZZZZ hahahaahahahahahaha

Yeah, its all on there and aligned, I want to save the pics for the finished deal tho. I need to get the rest of the finish off of the neck, see if I can't get rid of the "Squier" tanline on the headstock, and get her professionally wired up (I don't feel like doing it all myself). I wouldn't mind a drop-in for it, but its just as expensive to have jonesy make one for me as it is to have my local luthier/tech rewire her with all new parts and cloth wire.

My guitars get plenty of use out of them, but I really wanted a nice beat up lookin' tele.

Its hard to relic an epiphone, in my experience. Save a few dents here and there (one she got while she was cheating on me >_<) its pretty much the same as the day I liberated her from her box.

My Ibanez is almost the same, cept the matte finish on the neck has worn to a shine, gotta matte that baby back up some.
