how often do you mod your guitar??
i find that i get really bored wth mine really quickly. ive done 6 or so pup changes in 2 months and im getting ready to switch out all the electronics soon. usually ill mod something and get that honeymoon period where i think it's exactly what im looking for then after a week or so ill find something i dont like and ill nit pick the heck out of the sound until im back online looking for something different. anyone else do that or do i have to mod ME next instead of the axe???

Re: how often do you mod your guitar??
It's probably just you, I do a few things when I first get a new guitar to bring it to where I like it to be and after that I just leave it alone except for routine maintenance things.
If you are going through so many pickups maybe you should think about what sound you are really after and look into other options to make it happen.

Re: how often do you mod your guitar??
I have about a dozen guitars and only a select few have been left completely stock, including an '86 PRS and a '93 Ernie Ball EvH.
There's not one thing I would change on those guitars. Besides, I honestly believe any modifications to either of those instruments would seriously depreciate their value. But yeah ... I'm like you. I like to tinker.

Re: how often do you mod your guitar??
I have a few test bed guitars---a 90's Special, a Dot 335, a '91 350T, and assorted F***** guitars. I mess with them quite a bit, although none of it is too radical...mostly pickup mods and a few experiments with hardware. Most of it was for the better.

Re: how often do you mod your guitar??
6 pickup changes in 2 months seems a bit extreme, and costly. I'd suggest you give them some time to dial them in, amp settings, maybe adjusting caps to match the pups, etc. That's just about a change a week.
of course, this is from a guy that sent his guitar to HM.

Re: how often do you mod your guitar??
yeah wit the money spent doing all those mods you could have bought another guitar that does what you were modding the original to do

Re: how often do you mod your guitar??
not really. i buy my pups used. i buy a set try it and if i dont like it i buy another swap and sell the first. or ill buy a modded guitar cheap that comes with the original pups, swap them back, sell the guitar stock and keep the aftermarket pups. as far as pickups are concerned i dont have a dime into them at this point.

Re: how often do you mod your guitar??
I mod my guitars when I get the itch. I had the itch to mod my Les Paul Classic 2 weeks ago. I ordered up a set of Bareknuckle Miracle Mans. They arrived yesterday .....I need to install them. I'm just waiting to decide if I'm gonna upgrade the pots to 500ks.
