Padouk wood

has anyone used or had experience with this wood. im looking into using it with an ebony fingerboard to create a neck for my guitar build.
from my research its very similar sounding to maple, but it feels like rosewood.
also what type of finish would be best for this and can it be sanded so that the neck back is contoured?

I just recently built a guitar from Padauk.
The tone is not as bright as maple and has alot more tonal qualities (hard to describe).

It's also a very hard wood and not all that easy to work with.

good to know. i really like the contrast of that red black and gold on the guitar build.

i wont be cutting it but i will be sanding it to contour it a bit, how did sanding that wood go?
