Truss Rod Cover Screw Question
Hey there guys. A few days ago I took off my truss rod cover to do some adjustments, of course I forgot to put the screws some place where I'd remember. I have my cover, but lost my screws. Now after a few days of looking I kind of have that "screw this" attitude. So I know I need to buy some screws, and I know that I can find them online...however, to be honest I'd rather not spend more to get it shipped than the screws are worth. So I was wondering if anybody could please tell me the dimensions of the screw so that I can go to a hardware store and look for them? Thanks in advance.

Re: Truss Rod Cover Screw Question
I'm not near any to measure, sorry.
I'd just take the truss rod cover with you to home depot, or wherever and get some screws that go through the holes. As long as the heads look the same you'll be good!! If you don't want to Take a guess on Length then poke a bit of old guitar string in the hole and work in out from that (remember to add the thickness of the cover itself) But I'd just have a guess.. Failing that, someone will I'm sure come on and tell you the proper size, if so disregard the above. Good luck, btw, did you ask at any guitar shops? It's the sort of thing they might have laying about?? |

Re: Truss Rod Cover Screw Question
They are round head phillips wood screws. You'll have to bring one of your back cover screws to match the finish of (nickel or chrome). I'd try to see if the back screws thread size is the same as the trussrod holes in the face of the headstock for a size reference. On some models the Kluson tuner mounting screws are the same as the trussrod screws, with the same phillips round heads. If the guitar has Klusons with round head screws, I'd try those in the trussrod holes for a size match and also finish match. Most ACE/TRUEVALUE hardwares have large assortments of these screws for a better match, just make sure if it is chrome or nickel.

Gibson TRC woodscrews are Number3 x 1/4'' long ,Phillips roundhead.I don't know
about the USA, but in the UK they are virtually impossible to get without buying a Gibson TRC. Last edited by single cut 54; 07-24-2008 at 07:44 PM. |

Re: Truss Rod Cover Screw Question
When I need low cost parts such as screws, I usually wait until I need something else, unless the guitar is unplayable without it, and combine them into a single order.
