Re: Anyone have Dan Erlewine's book?

It's the only one I have. Guitar Player Repair Guide. That's not saying it's the only one that's any good. There's lots of good books I'm sure. But it was the one recommended to me and I've found the answers to my questions in it and haven't bought any others , yet.

Re: Anyone have Dan Erlewine's book?

I have a copy... This book is THE BOOK to have for learning how to setup/repair your guitar. After reading his book I now do all my own setups... I used to pay a tech to do them, now I dont have to pay someone, and I get them setup just how I like them!

Same here. That book gave me the confidence I needed to just dive in, and do it all myself!

Must own, IMO.

How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great<------Not very good to understand, too much info on other guitars (eg Fender), not detailed enough in some cases regarding set-ups!

+1, I have them both. Both great books.

I wish Dan would do a book just on LP's, though, to focus on all the LP specific stuff.

Heck, he could do one for LPs, one for Strats / Teles, one for PRSi....

Re: Anyone have Dan Erlewine's book?

Just got the 3rd edition. There's a DVD included too. Amazon has it $10 cheaper than Stewmac - plus, free shipping.

The other book I got with it....Beauty Of The Burst!

Both are great books and are permanently in my "reading room", along with Beauty of the Burst.

Re: Anyone have Dan Erlewine's book?

I have the third edition. Its great...but I wish there was more detail on some things with more pictures.
However, its already a pretty big book. It would have to be the size of a telephone book to get ultra detailed.
I agree that a supplement book by him on all things Gibson would be THE book to have.

Re: Anyone have Dan Erlewine's book?

i just picked up both the 3rd edition of the GP repair guide and how to make your guitar play great. i skimmed through both and as always more pictures are usually better but by just reading i felt like i knew exactly what he was talking about and it would be pretty easy to do
