that is just FANTASTIC! well done man!

Plywood back with that style hanger is definitely strong enough now.

Thanks man. The old MDF is now my work table. This new case only weighs 20lbs, so even with a heavy LP in it, your looking at 30lbs, and that hanger is rated for 75lbs. It is so solid on the wall, I don't worry about it coming down with even my nicest guitar.
I have two more frames glued/nailed together, I should be able to get them finished soon. My bonus room is going to be awesome with these all over.

Cool, I can get the Tolex and the corners, I'd have to search for red crushed velvet but I can get black for sure. You cool with a convertible? I haven't figured out the whole glass with the amp corners yet.

Jomo, I saw a post of yours in some other thread with a display case that had a textured beige frame - did you update the one you created in this thread or is that another case? Either way I think the beige frame contrasts better with the black velvet liner. Nice job.

Yeah, I posted it in the Classifieds.
Display case
I spent ALLLLLL day today (Sunday) building my third case. My wife is pissed at me. I also realized that I miscalculated my material cost but I am going to honor the price that I quoted in the add for that type case.

Re: Diplay case build (lots of pics)

Jomo, great job on those display cases!

I did a search to try and find some ways other people are doing this type of case with a glass door. I thought this one was particularly nice, and similar to what you're doing:

I would also love to see a display case like this as a coffee table...so you lay it down horizontally, with matching legs underneath, and a glass top...and suddenly it's a cool coffee table.

One other thought...speaking of horizontal...here is a website where they sell horizontal guitar hangers, in case someone wanted a horizontal display cases instead of a vertical one: AxeHold Horizontal Guitar Hanger

And here's an example of a display case done horizontally using these hangers:

Those are killer, thanks. I couldn't find a picture of just the hanger on that site. I am going to turn the first one that I built into a horizontal one since it's a little bigger. I'm going to use a guitar strap to hang it. I will try to work on a door soon.

Re: Diplay case build (lots of pics)

I love that tweed one you made.
I would hit up the back with some black paint, just to clean it up a bit and make it look even more professional.
Maybe even a logo with your name on it to really impress.
I'm a graphic designer so let me know if you want something custom made.
You can make some vinyl mask stickers really cheap, spray the paint on and then take off the vinyl for a really pro look!
Sweet work man!

That's a really good idea. The ones that I sell, I will make cleaner on the back. The logo is a good idea. I'd like something like a name plate that said "Jomo Customs". That started when I made some car parts for MINI Coopers.

Gas prices have helped our business a lot. I've been north of 20 cars a month for the past few months. I think I'm at 10 delivered and 11 pending. Every car is sold that's coming in, we have no inventory and we even are out of "orderable" cars. I have a spread sheet started for orders to place when I get my next allocation.
Every day when I go to work and have these whiney customers bugging the piss out of me, I just think about the day I get to walk away from it to open my music store.

Re: Diplay case build (lots of pics)

I build a bit of furniture in my spare time. What I do to date the pieces is countersink and glue (or epoxy) in a 50 cent piece (with the current year obviously) - I don't know about the US, but Canadian 50c pieces are cool looking) somewhere inside or under it.

I thought about low voltage spot lights. It would be easy to do, just hiding the cord might be an issue.
Edit: Bobo, did you get my PM. I'm going to place another order for materials soon and would rather just get your material while I'm at it. After looking at the material pictures I sent you, I think the Marshall material might be worth it. I may post some of those things in my add.
