Pedal or no pedal?

I'm working on an original tune and can't decide if I should use a pedal or not. I played a bit of the song with and then again without the pedal. Let me know what you think...pedal or no pedal.

Re: Pedal or no pedal?

I personally prefer it without the pedal. It makes the song seem much more even and authentic (if that makes any sense). Good work by the way.

Re: Pedal or no pedal?

I never thought I'd say this, but w/out the pedal sounds better.

Without, and in fact I'd clean it up even more for part I, up the volume and dirt for part II.

A word to the wise - original songs become someone else's original real easily this way.

Re: Pedal or no pedal?

I can't listen to your post from the computer I'm at - wish I could - but something came to mind. It was once said to me that if a song doesn't seem to work when played on either an acoustic guitar or a piano - and that doesn't mean one or the other; that means it needs to work on both - then what you have is probably more an idea for an arrangement, and not a song. It's a tough test. Most of my attempts at songs fail it! Food for thought, anyway.

If you feel that what you are working on is good and want to protect it, I'm sure no-one would mind or think less of you if you took it off-line, now that you've got some good feedback from those who've been able to listen to it.

Re: Pedal or no pedal?

Song stealers and African Lottery Companies. Ugh.

Quill: I forgot the guitarist's name, but from Stone Temple Pilots, he used to say the same thing. So, now that I've been trying to write my own music I either do it on my resonator or my cheap acoustic.

Re: Pedal or no pedal?

It comes across better without the pedal. I'd bump the Mid a li'l, but that's just me. Not bad!
