I think he's just become complacent. He needs a new band to really inspire him and get him to really care again. I've had that happen where I don't write anything for a while and then something sparks me and reenergizes me.
With Guns it was great bc they continually did that too each other and made some great stuff. They worked well together and Guns was greater than the sum of its parts. None of the members are as good alone as they were together.

I hate pick guards on LP's. I will only by ones that come without them....I dont want little holes in my guitar either

I think the tone sounds good and raunchy in a few of those clips. BTW did anyone notice John 5 playing in the background on that Pussy Cat Dolls tune? Now there's a dude who can tear it up.

Just to clear some stuff up...

1. Slash owns 2 '59s

2. He's currently designing a pickup with Duncan that's based on the APIIs for use in his upcoming sig based off of his Derrig Les Paul, so it could be a prototype he's using now.

edit: bahh its based off his Derrig, not his MAX.

Wow, besides Mayer smoking in that vid ... sheesh ... did anyone else notice how nervous Slash seems to be? After the song was over, he couldn't stand still & was fidgety ... I hope there is nothing else going on of a powdered nature, etc.

As for the tone on that occasion - I don't know if he had his backline there or he just brought his guitar & they had him plug into whatever. In either case, that was not a sustaining tone whatsoever. Hell, I've heard gritty Teles with PAF pros sustain more than that tone did for Slash, IMHO.
