Best Live Performance

Post the best live performance you can think of. It doesn't matter what genre. I'm not sure if there has been a thread on this before, but oh well.

Re: Best Live Performance

My favorite band to hear live is Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, and this is my favorite live recording I've heard! Amazing Peter Green tone and every note seems perfect!

I like this one too, Rory Gallagher live in France '71.

Re: Best Live Performance

Sad to say I've only seen one concert, and I refuse to say it is the best, I'll opt for videos I've seen, and it would be Korn, 2001, I think it was lalapalooza. When there was a mosh pit miles in diameter when jonathan davis said "go."

Re: Best Live Performance

Best Live show(s) I've seen in person: Tie: Son Seals B.L.U.E.S. on Halstead Spring 1991... Son and band kicked that shit... Son on a Gibby Dot through Fender Twin. Son's guitar was two feet in front of my face. Albert King at B.L.U.E.S. etc on Belmont 1989 or 90... Albert on Dan E Flying V. and Acoustic Amp. A stunned Dion Payton standing next to us in the crowd. Less than Ten feet away from Albert all night. Damn, I miss those early 90's days in Chicago.

Best Live Show on disc. Peter Green Fleetwood Mac live at Boston Tea Party Feb 1970. Jumping at Shadows, a 10 min If you Let me Love You, Epic Green Manalishi (with Greeny six string bass solo), Like it This way. Even more epic Rattlesnake shake with Greeny and Kirwan on Fire. This show is impossibly great.

Which year?

Saw them at MSG when the stage collapsed, a better show was at Nassau Collesium, Uniondale NY, the next summer. 3 1/2 hour set, freakin rocked, super tight.... people up dancing on the stage that night as well... but it didn't fall that time.

The Song Remains the Same MSG show sucked in comparison to these two.

Re: Best Live Performance

WOW great thread and very hard to pick one since I've been to quite a few. I guess I have to go with Pink Floyd in 93' at Foxboro for obvious reasons. Having said that, seeing David Gilmour on his solo tour in 06', in LA's Gibson Amphitheater made a huge impression on me. I can only imagine what it must have been like to see Floyd back in the early days. The lights, lasers and props are all really great, but he just fn' jammed live. It was something you just had to see in that intimate setting. I saw Floyd weeks after the Foxboro show at Yankee Stadium and sat right up front. I didn't walk away from that show with the same impression as I did in 06'. The venue made all the difference.

Re: Best Live Performance

Frails, I'm jealous you got to see Gilmour the "On An Island" tour. If he ever comes to the valley or anywhere nearby, I have to go see him.

As for the best performance I have ever seen, that would have to go with Coldplay. On stage they have a lot of energy and the whole combination of playing their music flawlessly, plus the lights and props and the energy made it the best performance I have ever seen. Mark Knopfler comes a close second.

Re: Best Live Performance

This LIVEDOWNLOADS | Download The Radiators 1/16/99, Waikoloan Hotel, Kona, HI MP3 and FLAC is probably the best live performance, where I've been present. On the beach, with an amazing sunset as a backdrop for some serious guitar playing. Plus it was my honeymoon!

+1, from what I've heard and read, TSRTS MSG shows were nowhere near what the Led Zeppelin was really about.

Lefty, my wife and I flew out to Cali for the show. We had a great time and while she's heard Floyd on the stereo plenty in our house since we met, it wasn't until that show that she really became a fan. Such a vibe and the sweet cali bud was in the air.

Incidentally, I've seen Coldplay twice. Once in Dodge Theater and once at Cricket. Both shows were fantastic so I agree with that one.

Mmmmmm, sweet Cali bud and concerts go hand in hand for me.

And yeah, Coldplay put on a hell of a show. I've seen them three times in Washington. The best show I ever saw was the last one in July at the Gorge in George, Washington.

A.I.C. & Tool, Fairplex in Pomona Ca. August 09

I'd never seen either band live.
Tool was jaw-dropping, abosutely amazing, stage presence & sound.
