Led Zeppelin

Ok I searched this forum and found a thread about your favorite album...but what is your favorite song? Just choose one, and explain why you like it.

Here goes:

Dazed and Confused, off of How the West Was Won this is the song where I was like...whoa, jimmy page is my hero.

Alright, everyone else can have a go.

Easy for me. The Rain Song. Simply beautiful! The one song that got me to pick up a guitar and ironically the one song I've intentionally not learned to play. Keeps it special but one day.....

Celebration day live from the SRTS sound track. Roberts voice and Jimmys playing are excellent.

Re: Led Zeppelin

Rock and Roll. It just gets me pumped every time I hear it. It is simple yet amazing with an awesome riff. Plus it's extremely fun to play on the guitar and its so easy to improvise to, I love to add in 80's licks to the song when I play it!

You really expect me to pick one? It can't be done. I'll tell you what I'm listening to at the moment; Bring It On Home. Great song.

That is one of my favorite Page riffs. It is perfect from coming out of the acoustic part.

Definately. It's so mellow and bluesy with the harmonica and deep, rough vocals and then Page comes in and rips it on guitar. Perfect.

Re: Led Zeppelin

Oh jeez, this is gonna be hard. Live Version of the Ocean, not TSRTS, or How the West was Won, but just some video I saw on the Mothership DVD. That or the Rain Song. Shows that Page was flat out on another planet when It came to songwriting.

Kashmir for the win.
Deep, tense, melodic and full of rich textures.

Perfect to me.

Re: Led Zeppelin

The live Whole Lotta Love medleys. On How The West Was Won, the I'm Going Down Slow cover. The BBC sessions bootlegged on vinyl with the cigar-smoking pig label include a simple, raw, and rather clean version. The "Live on Blueberry Hill" bootlegged version defined "hard rock ('n' roll)" for me. Then there's the last encore cover of Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill".

I love modern, "original" Zeppelin tunes, but I love them kicking ass with 40's and 50's oldies the most.

I absolutely love Bring it on Home live...when they play boogie chillin, and hello marylou...and especially the killer riff that comes in right after the bluesy start. WOW!

Re: Led Zeppelin

And PS I honestly believe if you listen to Led Zeppelin, you can't choose one favorite song. SO keep that in mind when you post! Just say one you like at the moment, or one that is important to you like River and the Rain song.

Exactly what I was thinking. It took me a little while to decide on rock and roll. I also really love Bring it on Home, Over the Hills and Far Away, Whole Lotta Love, Heartbraker, Misty Mountain Hop, and of course Stairway to Heaven.

Re: Led Zeppelin

Great ones already mentioned, plus I always liked "Hey, Hey, What can I do?"

It was a "B" side on the "Immigrant Song" 45, and now you can get it on the box set.

Black Dog.

Love the turnarounds when JB stays in 4/4 time and JPJ and JP turn the
riff over...

+1,000,000

This could have been my post, word for word.

My favorite LZ song since I was about 6 years old (28 years ago) and I've intentionally avoided learning how to play it.

Re: Led Zeppelin

My favorite Zeppelin songs tend to be the bluesy numbers:
-Since I've Been Lovin You
-Lemon Song (killing floor)
-When the Levee Breaks
-You Shook Me
-Tea For One
-I'm Gonna Crawl
-Bring It On Home
-Traveling Riverside Blues

then theres
-Dazed On Confused
-Stairway to Heaven (i dont care how cliche it may be, the song still moves me everytime i hear it. I learned how to play it entirely, and then stopped playing it cause it was losing its meaning)
-Moby Dick
-Thats the Way
-Goin to California
-Down By The Riverside
-Houses of the Holy
-The Rover
-The Wanton Song
-Sick Again
-In the Light
-In the Evening
-Kashmir
-Ten Years Gone
