Sin Nombre, Powered by a Norlin!

Well...allright...I've talked a lot about getting gig pictures of my Norlin. Well...I got 'em today.

Granted...this is a different thread...and it's a different band. This is band no. 3...Sin Nombre, a rock/blues/reggae/jam band trio that hosts an Open jam on Sundays and is starting to take off in its own right...

Now this band IS Norlin powered, baby! All the way! Today it was hot as sin...but we still did what we had to...

As for the members...there's Robust Rob on drums...

Demented Dan on bass....

And of course...me.....singer/guitarist/jackass extraordinaire...

Granted.....just as a reminder...what kind of guitar am I using again?

The 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom...(Insert "Oh Noz! The 12th Fret! It burns, it burns!!!)

Seriously, it really is a joy to play...

Anyways...if you ever find yourself in Northern California and you've got some time on your hands...swing on by! Every Sunday from 2-6 we throw down, and if you show up, we'll bring you onstage with us...

Anyways.....I know I've been waffling on this, but it's kinda hard to take pics of yourself while you're gigging....

(and yeah....I'm probably gonna have to "pay" the photographer... )

Cool shots - all but the last one! Good to see you gigging and having a good time. I've got one coming up on Tuesday - should be a blast.

FYI - if your Custom wasn't a lefty, I would have already stolen it from you.

Just kidding...

Hahahah......It's definitely a daytime gigger for certain.

(as for that last shot....don't blame me.....the photographer's got it in her mind to...well...anyways...)

There's a funny thing about that hat...I wore it once...and after that...

Crap...can't get rid of it. I tried playing 2 shows w/o the hat...and sure enough, as soon as we started playing...

"HEY! WHERE's THE HAT, MAN!! WHERE IS YOUR HAT??"

So I'll wear the hat...still won't play Freebird though (unless they take me up on my offer....FIVE HUNNED DOLLAH! I PLAY FREEBIRD FOR FIVE HUNNDED DOLLAH!"

And yeah...I do like that Custom a lot...I'm starting to use it a lot for daytime shows...but only with this band....(I still pinch myself every time I remember buying it for 1700 dollars....)

Yeah. Kind of weird how that came about...I've got an MLP member to thank for that.

Not too long ago someone named "Sin Nombre" was posting in the Epi forums (Maybe posted a dozen times or so.) As soon as I saw that name, the thought hit me "Damn, that would be a cool name for a band!"

I even told him as much...

Well, wouldn't you know it 2 weeks later I get a call from Rob who is also in another band....the OK Corral is looking to put together a house band for Sunday jams. Tossing around a name...I mentioned "Sin Nombre...the Band with No Name".

The guys were really into it...so that's how it came about. Thanks MLP for giving inspiration to name this band.

As for where this band goes...the first week we jammed...it would good enough to get booked locally. We haven't been together even 2 months and we're already starting to line up shows outside of that bar up in the hills.

PS:

I was told this came out as well...I had no idea! (A movie called "Sin Nombre")

Amador County area. We're about to start hitting Calaveras and Tuolumne county as well. (We're also probably going to do forays into Sacramento. I don't want to do a whole lot of shows there, though. We actually keep pretty busy up in the backwoods. )

Haha! Seriously though, the artwork is great. Merchandise is a great idea for a gigging band.

Thanks man....

On a serious note...our drummer is really awesome. He does all of that stuff himself. If he wasn't in the band, I wouldn't give the band a chance in hell of going anywhere.

I'm pretty good with that stuff too, but no band unfortunately. And very few bands seem to want to pay for that stuff.

Yeah....I hear that.

Ironically enough, we're one of the first bands to do that in the area we live in. There's a event publication that hits 3 counties...it comes out once a week. I saved my money...and bought out 3 solid months of advertising.

I'm of the opinion that any money left over has to go back into promotions. I think the band's pretty good and all...but unless it's marketed it isn't going to matter....
