Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....

OK, it's been 28+ hours since I posted the question. Skatterbrane KNOWS the correct answer but won't post as he doesn't want the ball passed to him. B-Squared got HALF of the answer (Waylon) but didn't fully answer. Therefore, I'll give the complete answer and ask a new question (hopefully an easier one for you guys).

The correct answer is Merle Haggard. Merle wrote "Honky Tonk Night Time Man" (on Street Survivors) and Ronnie reworked the song into "Jacksonville Kid" (on the expanded edition of the album). Tom Dowd was planning to produce a country album with Waylon, Merle and Ronnie. It was going to be a side project after the Street Survivors tour was completed, but the plane crash killed everything. Oh, the line in "Railroad Song" that mentions Merle is "...I'm gonna ride this train Lord, until I find out, what Jimmie Rodgers and the Hag was all about..."

NEW QUESTION:

Prior to the Skynyrd plane crash, what famous rock band had used the same plane (they sold it to record company for the Skynyrd tour).

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....

ToneGuy86 is the winner... yep, Aerosmith didn't think the plane was that great so they sold it to the record company (but had no idea that MCA was going to use it for the Skynyrd tour).

ToneGuy - you're up...

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....

Alright, here is a two parter really:

What under rated southern rock singer put out a christian rock/blues cd in 2005 with another Les Paul wielding southern rocker that is often talked about on this forum? Hints: The guitar player in question was briefly a fill in, tour guitarist with Skynyrd some time ago (90s) and has jammed and played with everyone else under the sun. The singer plays sax and harmonica as well (but not guitar) and has also sung with alot of well known people including Jeff Beck. Name the singer, the guitarist and the band they put together for the cd.

That was quick. I would assume if you got that much you know what the band is as well.
Your question...

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....

Actually, no I don't know the band name (and I don't want to Google it and break the rules). So I'll keep the question open for somebody else to answer. If you don't get an answer within 24 hours then I can think of a question to ask if you'd like. Oh, I got it from your great hints within the question itself (and a little bit of luck I'll admit)... that was a pretty good question.

Funny thing is I got it (the question)...because I just ordered the cd from Amazon. It just arrived at work and was sitting on my desk in front of me. I couldn't resist...or think of anything else.

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....

Thanks toneguy... now that you mention them, I have heard of The Mighty Jeremiahs... I just guess my memory ain't what it once was

OK, new question...

(This should be an easy one for all you rock movie trivia buffs) In the film, "The Last Waltz" what happens to Eric Clapton right before Robbie Robertson's guitar solo on the song "Further On Up The Road"?

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....

Are all the trivia lovers gone?!?!

Or is the question too hard? If so, here's a hint... Clapton had to stop his solo earlier and Robbie jumped in and picked up the lead lines and went to town while Eric fixed the problem. So the question is: What was the problem that Eric had to stop and fix while Robbie Robertson covered for him during the song "Further On Up The Road" in the movie "The Last Waltz". If you watch closely, you can see it happen to Eric and the look on his face (and Robbie's) is too funny!

Yep... it was like "Oh #@$" and Robbie looked over and jumped right in on lead guitar while Clapton fixed the strap. Otherwise Blackie might have ended up on the floor.

OK, so you're up...

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....

which "founding father" of heavy metal guitar at one time played guitar(for a few weeks i believe)for a band that won a grammy for "best heavy metal album" even though that band could/should not be considered a heavy metal band.so i guess its a two part question who is the guitarist and whats the name of the band?

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....

It is not a TRICK question, because I am not asking about his solo work, between Tom and Jerry, and Simon and Garfunkel, under the pseudonym "Jerry Landis" But NO, the "Paul Simon" LP was NOT his first solo LP, under the name Paul Simon.

Yes, it is not easy finding one that isn't TOO easy, yet not so hard that people whine about it.

It seems if the questions are not about hard rock, metal or classic rock then people are not interested?
