Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
Nobody got a clue? Here's another hint... Ronnie was a country fan and wanted to do a "one off" country album with these 2 guys (but planned to keep Skynyrd going as well).

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
Next Hint: Ronnie mentioned one of these guys in "Railroad Song" on the Nuthin' Fancy album. The other guy was the original country outlaw.

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
Nope, not Willie... it is somebody that Waylon (and Ronnie) didn't normally sing with. If you know the words to "Railroad Song" then you should get it.

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
OK, one more hint (can't have you doing Google)...
Ronnie sang a song written by this guy. Now think of the non-original Skynyrd songs and you can figure it.

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
Read back a few posts, B-Squared already guessed Waylon (he's the original country outlaw reference), the other guy is the reference to "Railroad Song" (and the one I just said wrote a song that Ronnie did with Skynyrd). Who is that second guy?

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
OK, another hint...
The song this guy wrote appears on Street Survivors. If you have the Deluxe Expanded Edition of the CD then you can hear Ronnie sing the song a second time, using lyrics that Ronnie wrote about his (Ronnie's) own life story. The guy I am looking for wrote the original version of the song (i.e., the one that appeared on the original release of Street Survivors).

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
Nope not CD... although he and Ronnie were good friends. Did you ever see the poem he wrote for Ronnie when he died? It is on the back of CDB's Millon Mile Reflections album (with the song "Reflections", which is about Elvis, Janis and Ronnie). It is also carved in a stone bench that sits next to Ronnie's gravesite in Jacksonville.

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
Are you all stumped? I'll give you a final hint...
We know the first guy was Waylon. The second guy was an Okie (just like Steve Gaines) and was Ronnie's musical hero. Name the second guy that Ronnie wanted to do a country album with: Waylon and _____________________

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
Wow... this one must be tougher than I thought. Anybody want to make a guess?
Here's all the hints so far: * Before the tragic plane crash, legendary producer Tom Dowd was planning to record a solo album with Ronnie Van Zant and what 2 other famous singers? HINT: They are no "rock" stars * Here's another hint... Ronnie was a country fan and wanted to do a "one off" country album with these 2 guys (but planned to keep Skynyrd going as well). * Ronnie mentioned one of these guys in "Railroad Song" on the Nuthin' Fancy album. The other guy was the original country outlaw. * The first guy (country outlaw has been correctly guessed as Waylon Jennings) but the second guy is NOT Wille Nelson... it is somebody that Waylon (and Ronnie) didn't normally sing with. If you know the words to "Railroad Song" then you should get it. * Ronnie sang a song written by this guy. Now think of the non-original Skynyrd songs and you can figure it. * The second guy is NOT David Allen Coe. The other guy is the reference to "Railroad Song" (and the one I just said wrote a song that Ronnie did with Skynyrd). * The song this guy wrote appears on Street Survivors. * It is NOT Charlie Daniels... although he and Ronnie were good friends. * We know the first guy was Waylon. The second guy was an Okie (just like Steve Gaines) and was Ronnie's musical hero. Name the second guy that Ronnie wanted to do a country album with: Waylon and _____________________. * And here's a NEW HINT: This guy had trouble making it through December but his mama tried to help him out the best she could. (I am making this too easy... )

Skatterbrane - sorry to hear that
![]() Led Zep - Not JJ Cale. Older than him. It's been 24 hours and nobody's got it so I'll give one more hint and then I'll give the answer if nobody gets it after that. Hint: The singer's initials are M.H.
