Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
Don't know about Ian Anderson, but a little known fact is that the early Led Zeppelin offered their services to Presley. And Anderson definitely wrote better lyrics than Plant... So, Led Zeppelin?

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
This is the guitar George Harrison brought with him on the first Hamburg trip and recorded the very first Fab4 tapes. At that time, young Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton also learned to play on the same guitars.
What's the name of the manufacturer, or the name of that model, or in which country was it produced? (any of the three will do)

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
OK, I guess no one outside of the former Soviet Block would know this. But it's an interesting guitar trivia.
It's a Resonet Futurama, manufactured by the Delicia company in Czechoslovakia. That company later produced Jolana, and that cheesy guitar was first electric for almost all of the Eastern Block young guitarists up to the colapse of the USSR. Neck like your forearm, and one could literally put a thumb below the strings at 12th fret. In the 50's, Europe was still recovering from the WWII, USA imports were expensive and this cheap import from Chechoslovakia was the first "proper" electric for Harrison, Page and Clapton.here's the full story on Harrison's harrison2 OK, ayone can take the ball now.

Yes, Joe Walsh it is! Well done sir, over to you.
I'm now going to dig out my copy of Joe Walsh best of and play 'Rocky Mountain Way'. One of the best intro's ever! _____________________________ This day in Music

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
It appears no question is pending, so if I could jump in real quick and try a difficult one that I found really, really fascinating, but I'll make it easy with some hints. I hope I'm not out of order.
What band has the highest percentage of their studio records in the Rolling Stone's Top 500 records of all time? Hints: From Manchester England, Active 1982-1987, New Wave/Alternative, but definately a guitar band, The are Vegetarians (hence the title of their third record). Could be considered very depressing music.... They are The S________'s. 80% of their records are on the list, but the one that placed highest was around 300-350. I thought it would have to be The Beatles (is there a really crappy Beatles record?). One CD groups didn't count (Sex Pistol, Derek and th Dominoes)

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
The Smiths, "Meat is Murder".
Quite easy for an older European from the New Wave background. :-) Never liked them much, I was all Clash at the time. But they were ultra-hip with the girls back then, so... Come to think of it, I like "There is a Light That Never Goes Out". It has the vibe of the time, "...to die by your side, the pleasure and the privilege is mine". And all the girls went OOHHHH

Re: The Official Rock Trivia Thread .....
The early-mid 80's were also my time. There were so many great bands, including the Clash and the Smiths.
27 years later, "Cheapskates" is still one of my favorite songs.

I think you should give just one hint, which could be a pretty funny X-rated one! Great question! Quote:

Right, great question! But impossible to answer (unless you are him...) Googled it, of course.
