Go see them...........Awesome band live.
Saw them at Manchester GMex (in the UK) and they were fantastic. Singer is a lunatic (came marching on stage with a second world war Nazi costume on as a wind-up against Prince Harry!) and blew the place away. Go,go,go,go,go,go,go,go and go..... Saw GnR as well, at the height of their fame and VR are in a different league live.......Performers I think they call them.

Re: Velvet Revolver
My #1 LP, forever, is my Slash signature. I absolutely love it. It's absolutely everything I could ever want in a LP.
I saw VR in Atlanta last year, I was hoping they'd come through again this year. It was an absolutely killer show. Ptate - Scott Weiland, the singer, came out dressed the same way at the Atlanta show. I don't know if it's got anything to do with Prince Harry or not. |

Re: Velvet Revolver
I saw VR at The Starland Ballroom for New Years two years ago. It was a sick show. The crowd and the band were going ape-shit. Starland is my favorite small venue in the NYC area. People in NJ how to have fun at a rock show unlike the pretentious bastards in NYC you just stand there with their arms folded. I lived in NYC for 13 years and I love NY'ers, but come on guys! Don't be so serious all the time.

They're not coming to Calgary? Damn... they must not have sold enough tickets the last time... Awesome show! I love Scott Weiland, and GnR/STP were my favorite bands as a teenager... VR is like the best thing to ever happen to me.

Re: Velvet Revolver
got a email from fellow member BorrisBeckorov thought i share:
ok well this is kinda weird, but I was selected as 1 of 200 people to go to a secret Velvet Revolver (pretty much my favorite band) concert in hollywood at the Fox movie studios for a filming to be aired on Yahoo music. I also was selected to ask the band a question in the middle of the show which made it even cooler. it's been like 2 months but it's finally out, so you all can laugh at me on video. I'm probably all over the videos because a camera was in my face the whole time, but I'm definitely in the Q & A session #2, talking to the band. let me know what you think. Yahoo! Music Adam oh yeah, my buddy Dave who went with me got to ask a question also, his is 2 after mine, laugh at him too. |

Re: Velvet Revolver
There are some brilliant solos on VR recordings. I think the biggest difference is the STP influence of Scott, which is still balls out rock, but not with the same gritty or bluesy influence that got GnR off the ground.
For me, STP was the next natural progression in rock music in the 90's. Bands like Nirvana were anti-rock, and there were so many grunge clones... but STP, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam... those were still authentic rock bands, growing with the times. VR is a great thing for me, I've always loved Scott Weilands voice... he has all these different textures to it, not just a lock jaw singer like all the Eddie Vedder clones out there (Nickleback, Theory of a Deadman, pretty much all modern rock bands), and throw that in with the backbone of GnR, and its a great thing! |

Re: Velvet Revolver
Libertad is a good bit less guitar heavy than contraband, however, I must say the slash parts while fewer, in parts seem a bit more thought out (in a good way) and hell, sometimes less is more, i'm not wowed, i'm not dissapointed either, fuck, with all the shit flying around, I'm just glad the album came out....and I just cant get it out of my head.....

You mean the Velvet Revolver concert? If so, I made a thread about the VR concert I went to. Just do a search for "velvet revolver" and you'll see it.
