Haynes - just plain magical

I finally gave both "Man in Motion" and "Live at the Moody" a few good listens recently. Man, Warren Haynes is incredible (though I've known that for years). He's got to be one of the more talented and amazing musicians on the earth today, and he knows what he's doing when picking people to stand alongside him onstage as well. These songs are journeys, excursions, and magical melodies that soar off in amazing tangents. Took a bit of time to grow on me, but it's a part of me now, both CDs. Just awesome! His ambiance goes right through me! He's soul, gospel, R&B, earthy, rock, Americana, everything good on these songs.

Ya man! My fav Allman Bros album is Where It All Begins, with WH and Dickey Betts blazing guitars. Every song is good and heavy and long and guitar strong.

Check it out, if you have not yet.

Warren Haynes is phenomenal. I wish Mule was coming to CA in the near future.

Haynes is one of my favorite guitarists. He is indeed phenomenal. I was happy to find out from my father that he's a real sweet guy, and his wife is sweet as well. I coulda guessed that much, though.

I'll vouch for this comment. I met him once in Colorado a day before a show when I randomly ran into him at a coffee shop. He was just standing in line with one of the promoters and I introduced myself and shook his hand. Then, he noticed my haircut and Taser shirt (I was teaching a Taser class that day) asked what I was doing. I replied I'm a military guy training the local police department on Tasers.

He then shook MY hand and gave me a very sincere appreciation talk about how thankful he is for the folks that serve, especially in this "era" as he termed it. He even insisted he pay for my coffee and BS a little bit before I had to run.

It's not the most exciting story but it meant a lot to me that he actually took a few minuets out of his day chat.

I've met several other big time musicians and no one has near the personality of Haynes.

I personally love Hittin the Note better than anything else in the catalog. Perfect album from start to finish.
