Talking Mick Mars of Motley Crue, WTF >!?

OK I'm a 13 year old who lives on the smallest island in Canada, Newfoundland.

I was reading the Motley Crue documentary, " The Dirt " and i saw a newspaper clipping from when the band was first rising and it said that THE GOD, MICK MARS was born in Newfoundland.

I read it over 20 times and its true .. i have walked on the soil of a musical genius

Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them?

Re: Mick Mars of Motley Crue, WTF >!?

Well, first of all, Mick Mars was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, and moved to California, where he is now.

Second, besides maybe Dylan, Beethoven, and a few others in that sense, I'd be hard pressed to call most other musicians geniuses. Look for brains elsewhere; rock 'n' rollers are just having fun.

Mick's awesome. Too Fast For Love.....His guitar tone on that album defined 80's metal to the bone.

Mick Mars....Loud, rude, agressive guitarist. Perfect description.

Rock on!

The Dirt is mostly fiction to begin with ...
It'd make a good movie , which was the basis of the whole idea ...

13 and reading The Dirt ???

Nils Lofgren of the E street band went to my highschool.

Brb, I'm going to go make a thread about it!

Edit: I just realized you can tag threads?

By the way, sorry for being an ass.

When I was a kid, the lady down the street told me she went to high school with Dee Snider from Twisted Sister...

hey, im only a short trip from terre haute. that makes 3 things that town has going for it:

1) mick mars
2) the federal execution center
3) the smell that literally permeates the entire area (anyone who has driven thru it on i-70 knows what i'm talking about)

What the hell! Are we seriously running down the opinions of a 13 year old guy for fun?
Jeremy why do you like Mick Mars and think he is a great player? My 13 and 10 year old guys like a lot of guys that originally I wouldn't give the time of day for, but now that I listen and try to keep an open mind I find things I really like. These days I actually have a favorite Iron Maiden song. Who woulda thunk it? So Jeremy...enlighten these morons. I appologize for them

I think if he digs Mick Mars, that's just fine... good for him.
The fact that he thinks Newfoundland is the "smallest island in canada" is a sad commentary on the Canadian education system.

Favorite Newfie quote:
"I picked a bloody handrock and pitched it at him and hit him pickety-pack-pack in the ass, and he was dead as a mitt, my son."

Either way I'd bet he was driven out of here. I know how my kid would react to a bunch of lugs running down things he loves.

The "live wire" album was awesome! Shout at the devil was pretty dang good for a 2nd album too.. but then came the commercialization.... Smokin in the boys room, home sweet home, etc... Sellouts!! LOL

When I was 13 I thought Randy Roads was a musical genius. Wait a minute, I still do!!
I think it's cool that a 13 year old now days digs Mick Mars, that's cool. I do wonder if it's just because of the newest G/C flier though?

+1 I totally agree man. When I was 13 I was going to see Top and Zeppelin live, I kinda feel sorry for the kids growing up these days. That the dominate music on the radio is hip hop, etc. Not very inspiring for an upcoming future rock star wannabees..

I'm really tickled when I see the youth today "discover" rock and roll and realize that their parents got it right and then they embrace it and it becomes a part of their life and sometimes their soul.

My son and I are so different than me and my dad, I never liked his old school country music and he really never liked my loud rock and roll.
My son and now my grandson both love the music I listen to and have my itunes library in their ipods and computers.

I don't know why you're jumping on my case. Read some of the others; I wasn't laughing or making fun of him. I gave him one point of fact and one of logic. You may not agree with what I said; however, I'd have said the exact words to my own son. In fact I have. He's a metal fan who knows enough to follow the music without worshiping false drugged-up gods.

I agree with that. The fact that he has suffered with a degenerative disease and keeps rockin' is what makes him a genuine hero.

The fact that a 13 year old even knows who Micky Mars is amazing too me.
like the crew have done anything in the last 15 years. I bought the first
album when it came out "Too Fast For Love" or, was it even named? dont remember,
but either way, Mars was a great guitar player, 1st & 2nd albums rocked. IMO
