Re: KISS Fans??
That's basically what I said.
But Ace's has been bored out so much, there are no channels and it's quite a botched job anyways. Last edited by Lowdown; 11-28-2011 at 01:28 AM. |

Re: KISS Fans??
Not to mention the fact that it was his first smoker; there is still smoke residue in the neck pickup cavity.

Re: KISS Fans??
At a time when replicas are being rolled out, with a very good chance one will be the tobacco; the question as to whether that beast was bound at the headstock or not - would appear to be rather relevant to me ...
![]() Perhaps accuracy may not be a desired component of these re-creations... ? ... but stopping short of the double cut mod would probably be a good idea

Re: KISS Fans??
Why do you think there is a very good chance the tobacco guitar will be done? I am not so sure about that. For one, I think that depending on how the Budokan sells, there might be a chance of doing another Ace guitar in a year or so. With that said, Gibson is probably more likely to do one that they have access to. Yes, they could get access to the first tobacco LP in its current form. But the only purpose would be to take a look at the heel and maybe the neck profile since everything else is so different on the guitar. I think they would be more likely to do a black custom or the Frehley 59 or even the blue burst silver sparkle. I do believe that the guy they borrowed the Budokan from also has one of Ace's black customs and I know he has the blue burst guitar. They probably have access to the 59 via Ace's friend who owns it - Ray Romano. Personally, I would like to see them do the 59 & get Ace into the historic reissues. But I would also like to see a tobacco Deluxe; and make it smoke!

Re: KISS Fans??
I'd love to have an Ace model guitar. I missed the first go-around & even if they come out with another, the Gibson price tag will most likely be outrageous...at least for me.
My only hope is for an Epiphone version....& I absolutely love the blue sparkle guitar. Anyhoo... |

Re: KISS Fans??
Just watched a pretty interesting video on netflix of Gene and Paul crashing a KISS convention in Detroit to reclaim some stolen costumes and stuff... Been listening to Creatures of the night and Lick it up... Rockin' out!

Re: KISS Fans??
KISS: Krazy Killer... I think it was like a bootleg, not very good quality.. But still kinda cool.

Re: KISS Fans??
.. I suppose the relevance of the bound or not bound headstock is as relevant to me (as a 35 year diehard Ace/Kiss fan) - as any question about the construction of one of Ace's guitars ... including were the middle pups stuck on/ routed in/ wired up etc. on his various guitars. Which ones smoked ... how did he do it etc.
These are questions we as diehard Ace/Kiss fans want to know .. if it doesn't interest a small minority, why wouldn't they spend their time on topics that did interest them . I for one would like to know the details behind the binding on the #1 Tobacco headstock. Who's with me ... ?

Re: KISS Fans??
I agree with everything TroubleWalking has said.
It interests us as Ace fans, which is who these guitars are aimed at. If you have your head planted too far up your bum that you can't see that…you're in the wrong place, sunshine ![]() Also re. that pic: good to see they have finally got the authentic pearl Grover's right. Hope these will be re-introduced. I now need to scope out another source,no thanx to the disappointing time wasting games of a certain someone

Re: KISS Fans??
What's up with the location of the strap button on the Customs above? It's almost on the neck; is that a second hole right above the relocated button?
Jimmy, thoughts? |

Re: KISS Fans??
If you read through jc,you'll discover Ace moved the strap button to the heel and also had the body contoured as well.
Plenty of pics and info on it. I know it's getting pretty confusing with all the other idiosyncracies and things that have been done to that guitar. Once you start digging though, you won't be able to stop

Re: KISS Fans??
Actually seems pretty smart... Wonder if that reduces the LP's tendency to want to fall off of the strap???
