Aerosmith Appreciation Thread
In my opinion the Greatest American Band of all Time with Joe Perry's Tasty Guitar work and Crunchy Tone, Brad Whitford's Great Rhythm Playing, Joey Kramers Drumming, Tom hamiltons Basslines and Stevens great Vocals.

Re: Aerosmith Appreciation Thread
Good band. I was fortunate to see them around the "Permanent Vacation" album in the late eighties, great show. It also turned out to be the last album of theirs that I really liked - from then on it was like they lost most of their Blues and Rock'n'Roll based orientation, sadly enough.
A couple of favorite;

I like some of the 80's and 90's stuff too. Songs Like Love in an Elevator, Cryin', Rag Doll and Angel.

Re: Aerosmith Appreciation Thread
100% in agreement with you!
And Steven, IMO is the greatest american Rock singer ever. The man has not lost a step and he's what, 60 something years old? I would even go as far as to say his voice is better now then when he was younger. RJD was a close 2nd in maintaining his chops at that age. Check this out!!

Re: Aerosmith Appreciation Thread
Their 70s stuff has an archetypal quality (like most great bands have) their latter songs dont capture that same "feel" IMO the riffs arent the same, the grooves arent the same

Re: Aerosmith Appreciation Thread
I still love seeing Aerosmith live, as they're an excellent live band. But on record, when it comes to good ol' rock and roll and blues, their first 3 albums are the best. It was down hill all the way thereafter.

Re: Aerosmith Appreciation Thread
Steven Tyler sounds the same today as he did on the first album! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Aerosmith, they are my 2nd favorite band ever....Joe is a beast...and Brad is too but most people forget about him....
This live tone is one of my favorite tones ever.... And this song is filled with some of the best riffs ever... And who could forget this tone and riff... These 2 guitar players are the best example ever of tone being the fingers because they always sound the same no matter what gear they use (and they both use a ton of different stuff all the time!) |

Re: Aerosmith Appreciation Thread
Yea. Their first 4 albums were some of the best hard rock of the 70s. After that, they seem to have slipped into mediocrity.
The toxic twins! |

Re: Aerosmith Appreciation Thread
Toys In The Attic is by far their best album in my opinion.
My favorite Aerosmith song (and one of my favorites of all time):

I know people always seem to forget those two but they're masters of the instrument.
