Awesome. Amazing how much crap we accumulate in our lives. That Sober vid is probably the best live footage of that song available.

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

I'm surprised no one posted this yet. There is a hidden track on 10,000 days, you can hear it by playing "Viginti Tres" and "Wings For Marie (Pt 1)" over the top of "10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)". Very cool...

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

Nope, never posted the vids before, just found them on you tube today. I made a version of it myself when the album 1st came out in mp3 format, I had the sync a little bit better... but this was close enough to post for everyone with out me having to re-create it again.

another cool tid bit, The Fibonacci in Lateralus:

interesting note at 4:53 in the vid. I just may have to try it.

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

That is a cool vid. Such an awesome, epic song. Tool proves once again they are on a different level. If you do link all the Lateralus songs using the sequence, you definitely must post here!

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

Would it be weird if I said that I dreamed of Adam Jones last night? This isn't a sex thing...it's a friendship thing. I had a dream that he was staying in my house for whatever reason. I was catering to him without trying to make it seem like I was catering to him...trying to treat him as a normal person and just be his friend. The dream is fuzzy, but I remember making him some ice water, spilling it on the floor, and having a good laugh. I also remember playing my guitar, but being careful not to play Tool songs...so he wouldn't think I was some weird fan. When I woke up, I had such a sense of anticipation and loss. This isn't the first dream like this I've had. Probably have one along the same lines every month. Anyone else dream about their heros?

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

I just have the dreams where a relative\friend dies and then I get the phone call a month or so later that its time to go pay last respects...

I love Maynards creepy stance when he performs. If you haven't seen the blood into wine documentary I highly recommend it:

I think the dreams are coming because I've been so involved with doing covers lately. Seems Adam's guitar work occupies most of my free thoughts lately. I've got that video on my Amazon wish list .

Oh man, it's awesome. It definitely added to the tone, that's for sure. I was pretty happy with my sound before, but every time I make an improvement I think "wow" this is much better....how was I happy before? The sound is clearer...it's got more punch, it cuts more. I actually had to either turn up my backing track or turn down the amp...for what is essentially the same volume I've always been at. It's like the sounds that come out of the amp cut through and appear louder, if that makes any sense. I know Adam didn't use a VH4 on Undertow, but I'm sure you're familiar with the sound; you know how it doesn't seem like there is a lot of gain...it's kind of clean, but distorted with a growl at the same time. Well, I've got a sound closer to that now. So, overall, what I've noticed is that it is way easier to come up with the tone/sound of the songs particularly at certain parts. Whereas before I would have to pick at a certain place on the bridge, or turn some pedal on or off, or do some other finessing to get a sound...with the VH4, the sounds just come out naturally. So it's less work. I'm a firm believer that tone is in the fingers...you can use the gear you have and work at getting whatever sound you like. But with the right gear it swings the balance between working hard to approximate a sound and playing casually and nailing a sound. That's my best explanation so far...sorry for the wall.

PS...glad you're back .

Thanks bud!

It seems to be the "end all" amp. That's a BEAUTIFUL thing. Congrats again!

I hear ya when it comes to "how was I happy before?". I truly was happy with my stock SB, but......Once I started messing with it, upgrading things, it made it that much better. Fun stuff!!

Saturn Ascends, The Grudge.
Not the best sound quality, but the energy from the show comes through the vid (This may have been posted on a previous page, but I'm not going back to look)

Danny and Adam interview... they talk about how they all met near the end of the vid... through Green Jelly of all bands lol.

Not to derail the thread, Maynard sings vocals on Deftones "Passenger". Deftones are a hit or miss band IMO, been missing more then hitting lately, but I always liked this song, then I found out Maynard is actually singing on it... no wonder. I like the guitar riff in it also.

I watched this last night. Streamed it through Netflix.

It was very cool! Knowing the type of guarded guy Maynard is I was surprised at how personal it was. He is the man! He's really just a normal, witty dude. It was awesome to see. And I WANT that shark bottle opener!

Thanks again SB!!

Yea I spotted it in the netflix queue a month or so ago to. I was just as amazed when I watched it with how much he disclosed. I want to try their wine, that critic they invited to the vinyard was impressed with it, and made a good point on how a lot of people's taste\pallets are use to California's vinyards and automatically don't like its taste, when really they're the only ones in Arizona making wine and there isn't anything to comapre it to.

Re: TOOL Appreciation Thread

Yeah, the critic was wow'd. He made the same reference Maynard did to the area reminding him of Europe.

I'd like to try it too. I was just on their site. Unfortunately my State doesn't allow shipping. It may be tough for me to get a bottle. No worries though. I'll keep my ears peeled and hopefully a bottle will find it's way to me.

I would love to know what the rest of the band thinks about Maynard's efforts. It was evident that this a huge passion of his. It certainly sounds like wine could end Tool. That would be a VERY sad day.

Interesting note indeed, and worth trying, but how is 6-7-5-8-4-9-13-1-12-2-11-3-10 a Fibonacci sequence?

By definition each subsequent number is the sum of the previous two. Furthermore, the ratio of any two adjacent numbers in the F.S. will approach the golden ratio, 1.618...

I think they just mean to make the 2 track numbers next to each other = 13... but who is to say that it has to be 6,7,5,8... and not 7,6,5,8 or any other combo. And yes its not a real Fib. sequence either.
